Pr November 10, 2015 for Model Number GGW9250PT0 Gas smell inside dryer. I cleaned lint screen, took apart grill and cleaned inside, took off lower front panel, cleaned inside around drum and burner area. Dryer works fine, gets warm, and dries clothes. I can see the igniter glows red, flame starts, everything seems to function properly. Just the smell of gas when opening the door. There is no smell outside the dryer. After the dryer has been running, there is no smell of gas when opening the door. Gas smell only after dryer has been sitting for a while. What is the cause?
1 Answer Hello PR. It sounds like the gas valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Pat March 24, 2015 for Model Number 110.95081400 The dryer runs but there is no heat, I replaced the igniter and coils already. Any other ideas?
2 Answers Hello Pat. You will need to test the thermostats W11050897 and the flame sensor WP338906 and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

2 Answers Hello Pat, This will be one of the following components: The motors centrifugal switch 279787, the high limit thermostat W11050897, the thermal fuse WP3392519, the wiring harness 8299929, or the control board WP8546219. If these test good, the gas valve WP8318281 may have an issue. Read More...
Soccerdutch March 07, 2015 for Model Number 8318281 Can you tell me what the approximate resistance of the two coils on this valve should read. One has two terminals the other has three. Also on the flame tube there are two sensors, should they read open or continuity. On my dryer the igniter comes on but the flame does not. it was working intermittently for a while but now no flame at all.
1 Answer Soccerdutch, The two prong coil will read 1,000-1,300 ohms, and the three prong coil will read 1,300-1,400 ohms across prongs 1&2, and 500-600 ohms across prongs 1&3. Read More...
Suzanne March 03, 2015 for Model Number GGW9250PW3 I changed orifice from natural gas to propane. It works but there is a leak @ orifice. A small flame stays on when dryer is off. What could be the problem? I have to manually turn gas off & on to use dryer
1 Answer Hello Suzanne. Based on the information you provided, you will need to order and replace the gas valve on the unit. Read More...
Chris C May 31, 2013 for Model Number WGD8300SW1 Hello, My gas dryer stopped working earlier tonight and I have it down to either the gas valve or the flame sensor. When I start it up, the igniter comes on, however either the flame sensor or the valve is making a slight rattling sound. Once the burner tries to ignite, the igniter switches off with the normal click, however no flame. It tries again a minute later, and same thing. As soon as the igniter starts to cycle on, the rattling starts, tries to fire, and then stops when the igniter goes out. Also slightly weird, if I wait about 20 minutes, the burner will fire, run for a few minutes, but when it tries to heat up again during the cycle to heat the drum back up, the same rattle and no fire happens. Wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks, Chris
1 Answer Chris, Based on the information provided this issue sounds like it would be caused by bad gas coils 279834. Read More...
Andre April 21, 2013 for Model Number LGT6634DQ0 My basement flooded just enough to cover my gas. The dryer still comes on and the drum rotates but it will not get hot. I think it may be the solinoids not opening the gas valve.
1 Answer Andre, You will first want to check to make sure that the igniter is coming on. If the igniter is coming on then check you will want to check your flame sensor for continuity. If there is no continuity then you will need to replace the flame sensor. If there is continuity then the gas coils would be issue. If the igniter does not glow almost white hot then the igniter is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Joe T December 30, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool Duet Gas Dryer - GGW9200LW2 My dryer has a vary slight gas smell in the clothes drum after it has been off/closed for a period of time. No leaks were found on any of the external gas connections. I am assuming the gas valve is leaking by. The parts manual shows the valve assembly as Part# 8318281. For a leaking valve, is it always replaced as a complete assembly, or are there replacement valve internals avilable? Thanks for your help!
1 Answer Hello Joe, You can get the coils for the valve separately but would need to purchase the complete gas valve WP8318281 if the valve is leaking. Read More...
Dominick October 28, 2012 for Model Number GGW9200LW0 Hi, My Whirlpool GGW9200LW0 Gas dryer has a leak in the gas valve. I ordered and recieved (quickly I might add) a W10480542 valve from you as a replacement. I have propane at the house and need to convert the dryer over to LP, but the new valve has a metal cover over the hole where part #15, #16, and # 17 go (your parts diagram). The metal cover looks like it might be able to be pryed off like a bottle cap and the brass conversion parts installed. Any ideas? Thanks, Nick
1 Answer Hello Dominick, This will require a conversion kit 49572A. You will have to remove the cover to install this kit. The cover is in place to try to keep unqualified personnel from getting into this part and causing a fire or explosion. Read More...
Peter B September 17, 2012 for Model Number 110.7742 2600 (background: purchased used dryer - was told it worked - then it sat on my trailer under a tarp for a few weeks until my house closed - the suspension on my trailer isn't great, so I'm sure the dryer bounced around a little in transit) The ignitor glows (and I hear a humming/buzzing while it does), then goes out - I don't get any flame. I have tested the sensors & fuses for continuity. I thought I narrowed it down to the coils - which I have now replaced.. no change. I was able to swap the ignitor & thermal sensor for ones from a friend's similar dryer.. no change. [I wanted to swap the valve as well, but the pipe had a different setup, and I couldn't remove mine (without feeling like something was going to break)] I've vacummed everything inside & out. I even tried running it without the vent attached to rule that out. Is the valve the most likely cause of the issue? Thanks, Peter
1 Answer Hello Peter. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. If so, replace the gas valve on the unit. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
