Yvonne December 11, 2012 for Model Number GS563LXSS Put on oven or broiler I hear electronic ignition no heat no flame.
1 Answer Hello Yvonne, You will need to check your gas valves for resistance. When you check the valve check from bake to common and from broil to common. You should have 216 ohms resistance across each of these points. If you do not have this resistance then you will need to replace the safety valve WPW10293048. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Vino November 30, 2012 for Model Number Whirpool My ovens only work if one burner is on ... If I only turn on the oven, the igniter tries for a few times then stops, same time the flame is on same is not. Know if one burner is on before starting oven it runs fine. My ?s on the valve are about 196 on both leads My igniter seems to me that runs too short and that gas has not arrive at the igniter yet. Thanks for your support on this matter
1 Answer Vino, The resistance of the gas valve coils should be 215 ohms resistance (+/- 10 %), from the post, your valve is electrically OK. Needing to open a burner valve, in order for the oven to ignite, would indicate a mechanical malfunction in the gas valve WPW10293048, or a gas supply pressure or flow issue. You may want to have the gas company test the pressure at the wall connection. Read More...
Fridge18 November 25, 2012 for Model Number WFG361LVS 0 When using the oven in bake and setting the temperature, the oven will light, heat up to desired the temperature then for some reason, shut itself off. We have to cancel bake, then start the process all over again for it to light and heat. It stays heated for 5 to 10 minutes then turns itself off. What is going on? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello, This sounds like you either have a temperature sensor going out of tolerance or the ignitor is going into failure. The burner could also be deteriorated since oxidation flakes inside the burner can drastically affect the units' operation. Read More...
Brent November 24, 2012 for Model Number GS440LEMQ0 Whirlpool Accubake Gold gas oven has power at control panel and upper burners work just fine but neither the bake or broil burners fire. Not hearing or smelling gas, not hearing igniter spark after turning on Bake or Broil. Have replaced one igniter and problem still persists. Should I go with the gas valve next?
1 Answer Hello Brent, Based on the information provided, you would want to check the solenoid on the gas valve WPW10293048. You should have 216 ohms resistance from Broil to common and bake to common. If you are not getting proper resistance then you would need to replace the valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Amanda K November 20, 2012 for Model Number SF362lxsq I ordered part W10293048 (Valve-Gas) because my oven ignition would just click and never heat. I saw in a previous forum that this valve needed to be replaced. I installed the part and oven heated but smelled a strong odor of LP. I realized it was set up for natural gas instead of LP. I flipped the oriface to LP and screwed the nut on the valve all the way down and then did 1 1/2 turns. I tried the oven again and it seems to heat up very quickly (too quickly to me) and still smell the LP odor. I tested for leaks and there seems to be none. I do see there is a valve that says off or it can be flipped up to open. Does this valve need to be on or off? Is there there anything else that you can think of or what could be causing this issue?
1 Answer Hello Amanda. The valve needs to be on to get gas. Check the flames and make sure they are blue with little to no yellow. If so, the valve is fine. If there is yellow there, you will need to adjust the orifice on the valve until the yellow is gome in the unit. Read More...
Amanda November 19, 2012 for Model Number PART# W10293048 I purchased part W10293048 from you for my whirlpool oven that runs on LP, I replaced it, it solved the igniting issue but it seems to be too much flame when I turn the oven on. I get a strong gas odor only when its running. I checked for leaks on the connections and there are none. I am wondering if there is an adjustment that needs to be done on the valve?
1 Answer Hello Amanda. Yes, you need to tighten the orifice on the valve WPW10293048 all the way down, then come back up 1 1/2 rounds to adjust the flame on the unit. Also, you need to flip the regulator to LP as well on the valve. Read More...
Kathy November 19, 2012 for Model Number whrilpool Range Model# SF378LEPS My oven stopped working, when I start it it will click 2 times and try to light but there is no spark when it clicks and I do not smell any gas or hear any. When I turn on the broiler it does nothing no clicks at all. The top burners are working fine though, any help would be great
1 Answer Hello Kathy, You would want to check the coils on the gas valve. You should have 216 ohms between bake and common, broil and common. If you are not getting 216 ohm resistance then you need to replace valve WPW10293048. Read More...
Bud November 16, 2012 for Model Number SF369LEPS2 My gas oven will not come on. I don't here the ignitor try to light it as normal. The stovetop works fine. I called a repair company to look at it and at a glance he said it was the gas valve part # W10293048. Could it be the valve and not the ignitor?
1 Answer Hello Bud, You can check your solenoid on the gas valve for resistance. You should have 216 ohms from broil to common and from bake to common. If you do not have 216 ohms resistance then you have bad gas valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Juan F October 18, 2012 for Model Number SF368LEPS3 THE OVEN DOES NOT WORK. (BROIL OR BAKE. CHECKING THE TERMINAL FOR SOLENOIS ITS SHOWN 540 OHMS ON THE BAKE TERMINAL AND 210 ON THE BROIL.. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?
1 Answer Juan, The test to the gas valve coils WPW10293048 should have been from the middle terminal to the outside terminal, then the middle terminal to the other outside terminal. The test should have produced 215(+/- 10%) ohms resistance on each test( with the wires disconnected). Based on your post information, you hve a faulty gas valve bake solenoid. If either solenoid has failed, the gas valve won't operate. Read More...
Frustrated October 16, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool Range SF265LXTS0 My oven will not stay lit. It preheats fine and will heat the oven at the desired temperature for 10 mins and then it shuts off. Trys to re-lite but doesn't happen. I have replaced the ignitor and gas hose. The broiler and stove top both work fine. Any ideas on what needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello. If the igniter and the hose are new, you need to make sure the wiring is good and there is no grounding issue with the unit. If all is good, replace the gas valve WPW10293048 on the unit. Read More...
