Brad, To replace the dispenser motor, you will need to remove the drip tray. Under the drip tray there will be 2 screws that you remove. Once removed this will give you access to the dispenser motor be able to replace it. For the icemaker not making enough ice you will want to remove the icemaker and check the module for a broken pin on the large wheel of the module.

Ice maker had been jamming with cubes stuck at eject occasionally. Recently it stopped making ice. Removed ice maker and melted ice & cleaned unit. Reinstalled & it made 1 batch of ice and then quit. Water did not fill tray. Freezer temp is within limits and the water dispenser works and has good pressure. The heater is not stuck in the on position (tray is cold). The infra red light stays steady on when the door switch is held closed. What are the possible causes & most likely part failed? Any additional tests needed?

M.B. The water valve would be the most likely cause of failure. There is a way to check to see if it is the valve or the tubing in the door being frozen. If you remove the kickplate and disconnect the john guess fitting at the bottom of the door, Push the water dispenser to see if water comes out. If not then the water valve is at fault.

David, With there being water under the icemaker it is most likely the icemaker that would need to be replaced. The mold of the icemaker may be deteriorating.

Cody for Model Number Whirlpool GS6NBEXRL01

I have replaced the ice maker machine and wire harness. Still not getting water. The water dispenser works. Have blown through the hose and it is clear. I have shorted across the machine in the t and h hole. Machine does not rotate. I have voltage at the v hole on the machine. I unhooked the wires on the inlet valve and switched them over and pushed the water dispenser button and no water dispensed into the ice tray. Do I need to replace the inlet valve?

1 Answer

Hello Cody, If you are getting power to the water valve but it is not letting water in the the water valve is faulty. Also check the emitter board for proper operation. The emitter board is located on the wall of freezer and has a flashing light when door is open. If you push on the flapper and the light continues to flash then the board is defective and would need to be replaced.
