Phillip B. July 02, 2012 for Model Number RBD305PRT00 First time for oven cleaning cycle on upper oven. With 1 hour to go on cycle the panel went blank. I checked the circuit breaker and then when the oven cooled I tryed heating the oven and no heat. Panel appartantly works fine but unit will not heat. This sounds like the same problem I am reading about here with the thermal overload. What do you think?
1 Answer Hello Phillip. If the clock is still blank, you may have a bad thermal fuse WP4451042 on the control panel. If the unit is working, but just the heat is not working, then it could be a bad thermal overload WP9759243 on the unit. You can test the thermal overload on the unit. It should read closed for continuity on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bobby June 30, 2012 for Model Number rbs245pdq6 I replaced the thermal overload, when I turned the power back on, it clicked from the top of the stove and started smoking from around the control panel. Any ideas could have happened?
1 Answer Hello Bobby. It sounds like a wire mayhave got against metal and shorted out. If so, it may have damaged the control board 4452240 on the unit. You will need to remove the back cover and look for a shorted wire on the unit. Read More...
Rhonda June 03, 2012 for Model Number RBS305OVQ00 We have had the Thermo fuse blow 2 times & this is when I run self clean (& replaced) then it blew again. The repair guy said we needed a new control panel. We replaced that & now I tried to do self clean again & the fuse blew. This oven is not even 3 years old. Any thoughts on why it keeps blowing the fuse?
1 Answer Hello Rhonda. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the oven sensor WPW10131825 is not shutting the temperature off properly. If the oven works fine during the bake mode, but fails and blows the cut-off during the self clean, you may have a bad sensor in the unit. Read More...
Kevin M. February 15, 2012 for Model Number RBD305PDB15 How do I test the thermal fuse and thermal overload on the above wall oven? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Kevin. The fuse and the overload WP9759243 should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jason January 03, 2012 for Model Number GBS307pdq3 Hello, My whirpool oven keeps tripping the thermal overload each time we clean it. I have replaced the thermal overload twice, the second time I also replaced the cooling fan. Everything else works well and I checked for a blockages in the air flow. Also this oven is 11 years old and we have never had a problem with the cleaning cycle in the past. Is there a differrent model thermal overload or a heavy duty one?
1 Answer Hello Jason. The oven sensor WP4451665 may be bad and allowing the oven to over heat and blow the thermal overload. If you replace the sensor and the problem continues, then the control will need to be replaced on the unit. Hope this helps. Read More...
Rosie December 13, 2011 for Model Number RBS 305 PDS14 My oven is circa 2002 Whirlpool model RBS305PDS14, Its a wall oven. A tech replaced 'the brains' as he called it because it would not heat up. Now, when the oven is pre heating, it knocks the fuse trip out and the whole thing shuts down. Could it just be the oven shutdown thermal overload fuse? My Husband thinks its worth a try and I shutter at the thought of spending over 2k on a new one.
1 Answer Hi Rosie. There is a oven safety thermostat mounted in the center behind the very back. You need to remove power and jump these 2-wires together. Does the unit come on again? If so it is part # WP9759243. What is puzzling me is that even so , you should be able to select the command even if the part is bad. From what is explained, it sounds like you may have a loose connection. Check the terminal block for issues and make sure the wire connections are tight. Take a look behind the clock control to insure all wires are tight. Make sure the control panel gasket is intact and spongy, if it has gotten hard it might allow the oven heat to escape into the clock control area and overheat the control part # WP8302994. It is temporarily out of stock, but Availability is expected on December 28. Thank You. Read More...
Jeff November 29, 2011 for Model Number GBS307PDB7 After a self-clean, the over would not heat. I ordered part 4451442 (Thermal Overload) and on your web site it shows a picture of the exact part. When I received the order, I received part 9759243 (THRMST-FIX). The body of the part I received is much smaller than the original, however, the screws fit and the plug fit on the prongs perfectly. I just want to be sure the replacement part is supposed to be smaller than the original. (A picture of the part I actually received can be found by looking at part number AP4320019)
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Yes, based on the model number, WP9759243 is the correct thermal overload. They have redesigned it. Hope this helps. Read More...
Brian November 28, 2011 for Model Number whirlpool rbs305pdq16 Just did a self cleaning on the oven and it no longer heats. With everything I'm reading, it appears to be a bad Thermal overload, but what I'm reading here is that it could be a bad thermal sensor. How can I troubleshoot to verify the problem without buying a new one of each?
1 Answer Hello Brian. If the thermal overload WP9759243 is bad, it will read open for continuity. Check and see if the sensor reads 1100 ohms at room temperature. If so, it is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Mike November 07, 2011 for Model Number gbs277pdq1 The clock will not set, and you have to start in broil mode to adjust temp. setting on anything above 325 degrees. temp. only adjust down not up. And when setting the clock the light comes on in the oven and will not set.
1 Answer Hi Mike. It sounds like you need the microcomputor part # 4452241. It is no longer availiable. The white keypad is part # 4451346. It will be availiable 11/ 12/ 11'. Black is part # 4451345. If the door latch does not close properly it will stop commands and light the oven bulb. Part # is WP4451424. Thank You. Read More...
Brian October 14, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool RBS3059DO16 My 6 year old electric oven worked great. I did a self cleaning mode yesterday and today I tried to back sonething and there is no heat any either element. The digital display works fine and everything looks like it is working but there is no heat. It starts in the pre-heat cycle and the clock runs down but nothing. I even tried the Broil and Cleaning cycles again but still no heat from either of the two elements. Thanks for your response.
1 Answer Hi Brian. There is a thermal overload part # WP9759243, located on the inside back cover of the unit. It is designed to open for safety. Usually the oven senser will open / or short after a few yrs of cleaning. It is an updated part. Oven sensor is part # WPW10131825. Thank You. Read More...
