This replacement washplate sits at the bottom of the tub and uses low-profile fins to move laundry and water for effective cleaning. Replace it if the original is cracked, stripped, or no longer gripping the drive hub.

  • Creates the wash action by circulating water and rolling clothes through the tub
  • Transfers motor torque via the center splines to agitate fabrics
  • Common symptoms: clothes not moving, poor cleaning, wobbly/loose washplate, or ratcheting/grinding during wash
  • Visual clues: cracks, broken fins, or rounded/stripped splines
What's included: 1 washplate Installation notes:

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washplate (Impeller) (Part Number: OEM18068661)

Jason M. for Model Number Maytag Bravos

Should my inner washer basket have splines? I recently pulled my washer plate and basket out to clean and my basket lifted up freely. the inside of the hole fitting over the shaft was smooth. I did the cleaning because my clothes were coming out wet and I noticed the plate was moving free of the basket. I figured change or something had gotten in between the plate and basket keeping it from catching and spinning. There was a ton of gunk but nothing obvious. I pulled the basket thinking I would need a puller or wedged 2x4 with a jack, but it came right out.

Jason, There would be no splines on the tub itself and if the wash plate is smoothed out then this would need to be replaced. Supplying a model number would help us better with answering the question.

Jason, The washplate should not spin freely and would spin with the tub. Check to make sure that the bolt did not back out which could be the most likely cause.

Francesco, The metal splines that the wash plate attaches to, is the gear case output shaft (agitator shaft). To repair or replace the shaft, you'd need to replace the gearcase W11132267 Gearcase. Since you've "cleaned it up" already, you might want to re check the splines and insure there is no residual "plastic" shards or debris left, then you may want to apply a thin coat of "vaseline" to the metal shaft install the new washplate make sure the bolt is tightened properly, and watch out for overloading the washer. Thanks,

Greg, You will need to wedge the pulley on the bottom of the unit to keep it from rotating and allowing the motor pulley to rotate.

Julie, You will need to get something under the washplate and lift up on it to get the washplate off. You could use something like a rope to get under it.

Hello Rich. When you replace the wash plate make sure you get the cent bolt tight. If not, it can allow clothing to get under it and it will cause the wash plate to strip out.

Hello Barry, It sounds like you need to replace the gearcase W11132267 since the bearings are included with it and this is the only way to get the bearings.

Chris, Normally if an agitator strips out the splines it is caused by one of 2 things. Either there is something is hung up under the agitator not allowing it to move or overloading of the unit which does not allow the agitator to move properly and would cause the splines to strip.

Hello Gerry, The cap and bolt are all that hold this in position. You can put a very small amount of penetrating oil on it to help free it up but be cautious not to get much in there since there are items in this unit that cannot withstand petroleum products. You can also remove the tub cover and grab the edges of the spin basket and bump up on the impeller with the spin basket. This will many times pop the impeller out.
