Rowdy Y May 19, 2013 for Model Number eed4300sqo Lately my dryer seems to pull a lot of electricity when I use it and then pops my screw-in 30 amp fuse in my breaker box. Dryer continues to run but with no heat. I replace the fuse and all returns to normal for a few more dryer loads, then it occurs again. Dryer outlet vent clear, and taking the back panel and heat coils covers off, all clear there also but 3 of the 5 coils getting dark in color. see nothing else to comment on.
1 Answer Rowdy, You will want to pull the heating element out of the dryer and check for arch marks on the casing like the element grounding out. If this checks ok then you will want to check to make sure that the wiring in the unit is good and no shorts to ground. You will also want to have your home circuit tested as a weak circuit could also cause this issue. Read More...
William R May 12, 2013 for Model Number LER5636LQ0 My dryer model # LER5636LQO whirlppol gets hot for the first few minutes then quits getting hot. It takes several cycles for the clothes to dry. I have cleaned the vent system and it still does this. Would the problem be the heating element?
1 Answer Hello William R. No, you need to check the vent and make sure it is clear. If so, wither the hi limit or the cycling thermostat will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Travis May 08, 2013 My whirlpool dryer stopped heating so I checked the heating element it seemed to look shorted out so I replaced it and the thermostat last night plugged it up dryer worked but still no heat. Is there something I'm not checking?
1 Answer Hello Travis. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Joe B April 03, 2013 for Model Number LEQ8000JQ2 Okay so my dryer smelled like it was burning and I discovered the heating element had the center plate between the coils charred black and cracked. In the replacement video it shows the old unit as being black also. I consulted a materials expert who told me that in order to burn off the zinc layer of the galvanized steel the heating element was probably getting way too hot possibly because of too much current. How would I know that replacing the heating element won't just burn up the new one too?
1 Answer Hello Joe. This usually happens due to a bad venting issue. It could be a kinked vent pipe, clogged pipe, or clogged inside the dryer. You need to check the dryer first on the unit. In most cases, this is the reason for the blackened plate in the heater. With a clamp on ampmeter. Using Ohms' law, you can figure the current flow with the voltage applied and the resistance of the element. If the current flow is too high, a short in the circuit exists that should be troubleshot. J. Smith March 27, 2013 for Model Number 110.66662500 Just replaced heating element and dryer still does not get hot. What else could it be?

Tommy March 22, 2013 for Model Number GEX9868JQ0 My dryer stopped heating up, so I bought the heating element and replaced that. The instructions on your website mention/show three wires connecting to the lower part of it. However, when I opened up the back to get to it, my dryer only has two wires connected to it. The top wire and the right wire (right, if you were looking at the hook ups straight on, or you could say the wire closest to you.) What is this missing wire for? I looked around in the cabinet and didn't see any other wires that could be hooked up to it. I went ahead and hooked the new element up and there is still no heat. Is this missing wire the problem? or what else could it be? I saw there were mention about the thermal fuse things, but your instructions for that include using that missing wire to hook up the new designed piece... Not sure what to do now.. Thanks for any help...
1 Answer Tommy, With this heating element you would just connect the same as the original. There are only two terminals on the heater and you would connect the way the original is connected. Read More...
Sara March 21, 2013 for Model Number 11066812690 What is the warranty on this element? What should I replace next? I have already replaced the thermal fuse and cycling thermostat?
1 Answer Sara, You will want to check to see where you are loosing voltage to the heater if the heater is not coming on. You will want to check each leg of the heater for 120vac to ground. Which ever side that you are loosing power is where you would want to follow. If on the motor side then you want to check the motor switch. All parts have 365 day warranty. Read More...
Rob March 06, 2013 for Model Number LER7646DZ0 My Whirlpool dryer has stopped heating up. I replaced the element, which I ordered from you. (great service, by the way). It still does not heat up. I'm getting full power to the unit. My question is, what should I replace next?
1 Answer Rob, You will want to check the thermal fuse 279816 and will check it for continuity. If the thermal fuse does not have continuity then you will need to replace it. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Tammy March 04, 2013 for Model Number WED6200SW1 How do I know if the heating element is bad? Can I tell by looking at it? We have already replaced the thermal fuse and still no heat. We have only had the dryer about 1 1/2 years.
1 Answer Hello Tammy. Test the element 279838. It should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
