In the How to fix it your self section of Questions and Answers, your answers for removing the Base Spray Arm is incorrect. It states "just stick a screw driver into the base spray arm from inside the tub and turn", that does not work. Their are 2 tabs that in gauge the base spray arm with the tub. A 4 prong round wrench is required to insert from the bottom into the pump connector and turn the nut that sits inside.

Dishwasher sump/motor assembly failed Kirk H. • Covina , CA • August 02, 2025
Dishwasher failed to run normal cycle. Would fill and then empty, but would not run through the normal rinse/clean cycle. Determined that the Sump/Motor Assembly needed to be replaced. Dishwasher had to be pulled out to access part. Was difficult to snap into place and had to maneuver several times to get a tight seal before reattaching peripheral components. Ran a one-hour cycle to test for leaks and efficiency before reinstalling unit under counter.

Sump seal leaked water into diverted motor and of course our floor this is my 2nd kitchenaid to have this problem William L. • Taylors , SC • September 14, 2015
DIY, changed motor and sump. Put a dab of valve lubricant on seal. Wet outer seal of sump to get it to seat in bottom of tub.
Cleaned electrical connectors corroded by leak. Coated connectors with dielectric grease.
Had to buy additional clamp. Two clamps came in the sump package but both fit the smaller hose only. Neither fit the large hose. I wish the correct clamps were included. Home improvement store clamp is a little too wide to fit between ridges in large hose.

Water leaking from the area proximate to the motor Nathan S. • Salt Lake City , UT • January 19, 2015
I reviewed the schematic and saw the Volute Seal, and Impeller Seal were the two that were closest my source of water. After watching the video about changing the Impeller/seal I removed the motor, impeller, and volute; I found that the impeller seal was the faulty one in my case. Since I'd ordered the volute and impeller seal kits (as I wasn't sure which it was) I installed both while I had it apart. Runs great, no water - simple to do. The seal changes took about 20 minutes. Replaced the pump and drain hose. The pump was easy. The replacement parts were identical to the bad parts. The drain hose was full of gook and smelled awful so I decided to replace that as well. The tag on the new hose alerted me to the procedure for installing a drain hose. If your dishwasher is not vented you need to create a high hose loop so that excess particles from the garbage disposal or dishwasher don't stay in the hose. The person that installed the dishwasher failed to do this which...

I did run in to a small problem, the chopper blade was pressing against the metal grate on the piece that goes back over the motor seal. I spent about an hour messing with it, but thought maybe once it's all together it'll be fine.
When you screw the impeller on, it pushes down the seals, which pushes down the chopper blade.

Dishwasher not washing Don B. • Fort Pierce , FL • December 27, 2019
I began the repair process with basic troubleshooting. The two-year-old Whirlpool dishwasher was not washing. At first, I thought it was not getting water. And I noticed the detergent cube slightly moistened on the floor of the washer. Google led me to your YouTube videos. I assumed (and hoped) it was the pump. From what I read...

Leaking from the bottom of the sump area. Jeffrey G. • Wellsburg , NY • June 26, 2022
I discovered a major leak at the bottom of the dishwasher near the diverter motor. The leak was so significant that water dripped onto my basement floor. The dishwasher is 7 years old.
