Symptoms of a bad thermostat include:
- Inability to increase air temperature above a certain point
- Overheating errors
- Slow or incomplete drying even on high heat settings
- Socks ending up damp after an entire cycle
This is a genuine Whirlpool OEM replacement this part is also compatible with Maytag, Jenn-Air and some Kenmore models.

Whirlpool Thin Twin mod LTE5243DZ2 dryer ran but was not creating heat David G. • York Springs , PA • July 17, 2019
I checked the continuity on the thermal fuse (which was blown) and knew that it needed to be replaced. This made me question why it blew (i.e. what caused it to fail). I checked continuity on the thermostat (high limit) as well as the thermostat for the element. Both passed a continuity test, so I removed the high limit thermostat to inspect it and could hear it rattling inside. This leads me to believe the spring inside had failed, so I replaced this thermostat as well. Put it back...

Broken belt switch Jack F. • Hermosa Beach , CA • July 08, 2016
Every time I tried to start our dryer, the "Sensing Light" came on, I heard a little "click," and the dryer would not start.
According to the very helpful Appliance Parts Pros. videos, I was able to dismantle, diagnose a few components, and discover the broken part. In this case, it was a Broken Belt Switch.
I ordered the part, we went on vacation for a week, and when we returned home the part was at our residence. The next day, I installed the part and all is good now.

This sensor harness connects the dryer's moisture sensor bars to the main wiring, helping the control or timer read moisture levels so Auto Dry cycles can advance and deliver consistent, reliable drying performance.
- Provides the electrical path between the moisture sensor bars and the control/timer
- Enables the dryer to sense wet fabrics and adjust or advance Auto Dry cycles
- A damaged or open harness can cause Auto Dry to not advance, run too long, or stop early
- Contribute to inconsistent dry times or a "Sensing" indicator that behaves abnormally
What's included: One sensor wire harness Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing
- Access the sensor bars at the front bulkhead; note wire routing and clip locations
- Transfer routing/clips from the old harness; connect to both sensor bars and the main harness plug, ensuring snug terminals and clear wire paths
- Restore power and run an Auto Dry test; inspect/clean the sensor bars and check harness continuity

Replaced the high limit safety thermostat. Ordering was easy, and the part came quickly. The video on the web site was helpful, although I was not able to follow the instructions fully. Unless you have super skinny, long arms, you cannot reach under and around the dryer tub to reach the belt tension arm. I ended up having to remove the side panel of the dryer to remove the belt from the motor. Replacing the thermostat was simple enough. At this point, it seems to have corrected the...
