De606 Maytag Dryer Parts

• Too hot
• No heat or not enough heat
• Shuts off too soon

This Maytag dryer was bought in 1985 if memory serves. It has worked hard with few repairs done by yours truly over the years. Thanks to the engineering and excellent design by Maytag staff, removing parts are relatively easy. Once I opened the unit, I found it to be full of lint. One day my wife went to bake something and the bake/broil buttons as well as #3, #9, and oven light ceased to work. Local repair guy came by and wanted to charge $500 to fix it....YEAH RIGHT! I removed the front panel and observed the heating element while running the dryer. It was cycling off every minute or so and staying off for several minutes. Even though it was likely the high temp cycling thermostat I replaced both the 14, and 15 cycling thermostats which I think are the original factory units. That makes them nearly 35 years old. First replaced the drum rollers...that wasn't it..took dryer back apart and spun the belt tension wheel by hand (should have done this the first time I took the dryer apart) and it squeaked. so I ordered the full parts: wheel, idler arm, idler spring, arm sleeve, E ring..Put it back together and whoa..no more squealing!! I ordered all the parts necessary to replace the heating element and thermostat on a Sunday night. Appliance Parts Pros shipped on Monday AM and I received them on Wednesday. Our heating element had broken coils. Typed model number in to see which parts were likely to fix the problem. AppliancePartsPros told me exactly which parts to try. I simply removed and replaced the bake element and light bulb. The only difficulty I had was working around the open oven door. I relied on the Appliance Parts Pros videos for procedures on how to do this safely and correctly. I would not have attempted this repair without the videos.
