Agitator barely moving clothes? Worn agitator dogs prevent the ratcheting action needed for proper washing. Simple DIY fix in under 30 minutes.
I had previously replaced the pump about 1 year ago. That was not the problem. Still leaked the same way - intermittently, but always in the center of the washer onto the floor. None of the hoses were leaking - no evidence of corrosion or water mineral residue at any of the hose fittings. So, it must have been something else. I studied the parts diagram for the washer tub assembly and concluded the source of the leak almost had to be the outer tub's Centerpost Gasket. It was really the... Read more
Washer won't spin or agitate? A broken motor coupling disconnects the motor from the transmission. DIY repair in 30-45 minutes with basic tools.
My whirlpool washer was no longer spinning, so my first stop was YouTube where I found the video from AppliancePartsPros showing how to replace the motor coupling. In addition to the replacement guide, Matt also shows you how to diagnose the problem by looking for rubber shavings under the washer. Seeing the rubber shavings under the washer, combined with the fact that the washer still drained meant that the motor was still working, so something else in the drive train was bad. I took the... Washer making loud grinding noise during spin or agitation? Drive clutch kit repairs worn clutch assembly. Moderate DIY repair, typically 30-45 minutes.
Replaced washer drive block and Cam. I called around and finally settled on Appliance Parts Pros because they helped diagnose the problem, told me what parts to replace and had videos to show me how to do it. In completing the repair I had to remove quite a few pieces of hardware in order to get at the part I was to replace. The videos helped but there is a learning curve while you familiarize yourself with the parts and figure out how the remove them. Eventually I got to a large nut that,... Read more
Fix a washer that won't spin or agitate with this drive hub kit. Transfers power from motor to basket. Moderate DIY repair with video guide included.
I watched a video on YouTube that showed my exact problem. It had a link to this part AP5665171 Hub and it showed how to fix it. It was a fairly simple fix. I did not even have to remove the tub. I popped the cap on top of the agitator plate (AGP), removed the bolt hold the AGP on. I tapped on the bolt several time to loosen it. Using an angled screw driver, carefully and slowly lifted up the edges of the AGP until I could use my fingers to carefully pull the AGP off the splined drive... Read more
Washer won't spin or leaves clothes soaking wet? A worn clutch assembly prevents the tub from spinning properly. Moderate DIY repair with video guide.
A couple of years ago, I had an issue with my Whirlpool washer which is every bit of 18 years old. I checked the internet for what might be wrong and stumbled across some how to videos on how to fix it. So, the other day, when my washer quit spinning the first thing I did is go to the internet again to see if I would be able to fix again. Thank you, Appliance Part pro.com, for your very helpful website with the very informative video's on how to replace parts! After I watched a... Read more

This was my first attempt, ever, to repair a washing machine. After some internet research on the problems, I was able to determine that the shaft seal on the gearcase probably was leaking water into the gearcase with each use. No water was ever found on the floor, but when I turned the washer over to inspect the gearcase, I found a black, oily residue on the outside of it along with the same residue on the pulleys, the belt and the motor. I ordered a new gearcase, shift actuator, splutch... Read more
Washer leaking water underneath or not draining? This drain pump removes water during the cycle. DIY repair typically takes 10-15 minutes with basic tools.
With much trepidation, I Googled leaking washing machines and deduced that our problem was likely (but not certain) that we needed to replace the direct drive washer pump. After viewing the AppliancePartsPros video, I decided that ordering the $30 part was worth the risk (vs a $120 plus service call). The pump arrived w/in 2 days and my wife and I experienced an enjoyable bonding experience installing it :). But it's now working great and there is no leak. ... Kudos to AppliancePartsPros for a... Replacement suspension spring for washers. Supports and stabilizes the tub during wash and spin cycles. Replace if broken, stretched, or detached.
When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I plan to also replace the Self leveling leg spring which is an easy fix since it's on the back of... Read more

Washer won't start, agitate, or spin? A faulty lid switch is the likely cause. This safety switch is easy to replace in under 5 minutes with basic tools.
First I checked the circuit breakers and power to the outlet, then next wanted to check the lid switch, but it wasn't where I had found it on older models. I could hear it clicking on and off as I raised and lowered the lid, but it wasn't visible. I drained the tub through a siphon hose to lighten the machine, so I could slide it away from the wall to better see. Couldn't see the switch anywhere and decided it must be hiding in the raised console, but was unsure of how to attack it without... Read more

Agitator not working or spinning loosely? This washer agitator bolt secures the agitator assembly. Simple DIY fix in under 20 minutes with basic tools.
I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. I reviewed the video on the Appliance Parts Pros web site, disassembled the agitator and cleaned everything up, which helped a little, but not enough. Figuring the agitator itself was worn out also, I looked up and ordered all the parts for the upper agitator on... Read more
Upper agitator not spinning or turning freely? This short cam agitator repair kit includes dogs, cam, and retainer. DIY-friendly 10-minute repair.
I searched the internet for the most likely cause of the problem and then went to the AppliancePartsPros.com site to see if they had the parts. Naturally they did, but the best part was that they had a video on how to change the part. The video was very clear and straightforward. So easy to follow. I ordered the part mid-day on a Thursday. Imagine my surprise when later that day an email came in letting me know that the part was already shipped! The next day the part was on my front... Read more
