• Too hot

I removed the front panel and observed the heating element while running the dryer. It was cycling off every minute or so and staying off for several minutes. Even though it was likely the high temp cycling thermostat I replaced both the 14, and 15 cycling thermostats which I think are the original factory units. That makes them nearly 35 years old. First replaced the drum rollers...that wasn't it..took dryer back apart and spun the belt tension wheel by hand (should have done this the first time I took the dryer apart) and it squeaked. so I ordered the full parts: wheel, idler arm, idler spring, arm sleeve, E ring..Put it back together and whoa..no more squealing!! I figured there could only be a couple reasons why the dryer would not heat so I did some research. I read where you could test for continuity on the parts to determine which one was bad. A friend referred me to this site, I looked up the part for my particular model, ordered and replaced the part. It could not have been any easier. I will come back to this site with my future appliance parts needs for sure! Read more

I replaced the seals and tub bushings to bring back a quieter operation and keep from doing more damage.I have done so since it was new in 1990. It still has a lot of kife left in it. And it beats buying a new unit any day. Read more

Cleaned exhaust duct, but only from the dryer/laundry room side. Replaced thermal fuse. Unit worked for about two loads and thermal fuse blew again. This time I cleaned the exhaust vent on the roof of my 2-story house. It was found to be partially obstructed and I was able to remove a significant amount of lint from it. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I replaced the motor and all other moving components along with the felt drum seals.drum glides and drive belt. The wiring instruction is where i had the most problems. Because my wiring had only 4 wires in the harness not 5, and one was a different color then the instructions call out, I believe was because it might have been and older model. the instruction called for a gray wire but mine was white with a blue piggy back wire attached. but after finding a few videos on line i figured that the... I ordered all the parts necessary to replace the heating element and thermostat on a Sunday night. Appliance Parts Pros shipped on Monday AM and I received them on Wednesday. It took me 45 minutes to disassemble the dryer, replace the parts and have the dryer working again. It should be good for another 35 years which should cover me for my needs. Took the front panel off (the door front), disconnected the connector to the door switch and used a wooden clothespin to bypass the door switch. Turned on the dryer to locate loud squeaking sound and found it was coming from the motor area. When I started to take the blower section apart from the motor, that is when I saw the "blower wheel" slipped off the motor shaft. Replaced dried crumbling rubber foot. Cleaned inside and outside of dryer before installing igniter cleared vent hose. Leveled unit installed dryer igniter. Fired it up.Runs Great Now. Read more

I removed the burners, which were rusted and needed some tapping.They were pretty stubborn to remove from the insert. I removed the spark igniters, which were rusted where they screwed into the burner and then removed the venturi tubes.. Once this was done, I installed the new igniters to the underside of the new burner. I then installed the burners, which only took simple placement and a quarter turn to lock them in.
