Bought a used Frigidaire 36 inch stove. The broiler didn't come on but the burners lit and the stove worked so I made do for about 4 or 5 years with that. Then the F10 code came up and it wouldn't stop beeping until I unplugged it. I figured the electronics/circuit board was probably bad and ordered a replacement. I was confused about what part to order. The parts list includes "Control Panel" and "Clock - Timer". Turns out the control panels are the glass panel on the front of the stove... Read more

Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... Causes of damage to the range overlay can range from excessive cleaning, use of harsh chemicals, to simple wear and tear over time.
Symptoms of a bad Range Overlay include:
I first felt along each heating element (bake and broil) hoping to find a rough or blistered place on them. But they were both smooth with no irregular places. (replacing the elements would have been the easiest and cheapest repair. Pulled the back off the range (unplugged, of course) - checked wiring. There were no loose connections or burned wiring. I disconnected the elements and checked them with a ohmmeter (VOM) and both had continuity. Discovered that both elements used the same... Read more

Symptoms of a bad sensor probe include:
I replaced the probe which is a thermocouple. Naturally the connector was different from the one on the stove so I cut off the connector on the old probe and soldered it to the new probe. The cleaning of the wires and soldering them was the most time consuming activity of the repair. My wife just tried the stove and the oven temperature read exactly as the setting. Read more

I purchased 2 new light rocker switches, Because the heating element rocker switch was unavailable. First I removed the power source for safety. Then I simply pulled each switch out individually with a flathead screwdriver for leverage. I simply unplugged the wires from the old rocker switch, discarded the old rocker, plugged the wires into the new rocker switch, and pushed the new switch appropriately back into the control panel. I used the same steps for both rocker switches. Once... Read more
