Pulled down the existing drain tube and installed new one. Tight area so it requires two hands to push up and attach the new tube. The Grill Recess is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. It is located in the dispenser area, acting as a catch tray to collect drips and spills from the water or ice dispenser. This component helps keep the dispenser area clean and prevents water from dripping onto the floor or refrigerator surfaces.
Over time, the grill recess can become cracked, discolored, or damaged due to regular use and exposure to moisture. Replacing it ensures a clean appearance and continued functionality of the dispenser area.
Symptoms of a bad grill recess include:
- Cracks or visible damage to the tray
- Difficulty fitting the grill securely in place
- Water pooling or dripping from the dispenser area
- Discoloration or wear from prolonged use
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Not dispensing ice, making loud noise Dennis V. • Parker , CO • March 24, 2020
When I took it apart I found that the drive cup was cracked, the helix lock plate hole was reamed out and the ice deflector spring was broken. The biggest problem was the helix had slipped down the shaft and allowed the end of the shaft to bore a hole in the housing which made it a bear to get out. Others have had the same problem. Once I got past that obstacle, it was simple to replace all the parts and it's working like normal again. Very helpful video explaining the repair.

Several broken tray/drawer pieces needing replacement David C. • San Diego , CA • January 11, 2018
Used the schematic provided to select the parts needing replacement and placed the order. Parts arrived and swapping new for old was simple. For the most part it was a matter of taking out the old and putting in the new. There were a few screws with wheels to replace but that was easy as well.
Before purchase I searched several different sites and found all the parts needed. I compared prices of each item as well as shipping cost. Prices for each item were nearly identical between sites...

The water would not shut off from the water dispenser on the freezer door Michael J. • Avon , IN • December 18, 2025
I removed the Display Panel and unplugged all the connections from the Panel. I removed the Dispenser Housing Shield along with the Ice Shoot Shield and the Paddle Dispenser. I then removed the Dispenser Switch from the Dispenser Housing Shield, as I suspected that the Dispenser Switch was the problem. I ordered a new Paddle Dispenser as ours had lost the finish from water deposits over time, but also order the Ice Shoot Shield as a piece broke on removal (my fault, I believe). We received...

Ge side by side psc25 series ff section was not cooling well (42 degrees best it could do) Robert B. • Morgantown , WV • October 19, 2014
Common theme on the blogs was thermistors and or defrost heater/thermostat. Ran self-diagnostics which turned on defrost heater which was fine. All five thermistors indicated ok on diagnostic also, but I read more than one time "replace the thermistors no matter what if your FF section isn't cooling". So I ordered all five thermistors and defrost limiter thermostat. Received all in 48 hours (great shipping service), took me about three hours to replace all thermistors and thermostat just as...
