Fix a washer that won't start when the lid is closed with this lid switch plunger. Simple DIY repair—just remove two screws and realign. Video included.
I replaced the switch, the plunger, plunger guide and the lid cam, but the cam still didn't turn on the switch. Turned out someone had stood on the washer and bent the lid slightly, not enough to notice, but since I had ruled out just about everything else I started looking at the lid itself. I ended up bending it back close to it's original shape and now it works fine. I guess I learned a few things about washing machines though. One lesson is when you pull off the controls, the hose leading... Read more

The instructions were detailed and excellent. The dryer is up and running fine. Read more
Mounts the washer top panel to the cabinet frame. Replace if screw is stripped, rusted, missing, or damaged during cabinet disassembly and repair work.
I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair... Read more

Dryer won't heat or flame cycles on and off? A warped burner assembly prevents reliable ignition. Moderate DIY repair restores even drying.
When I first looked at my dryer I thought it was my ignitor, on a closer look I found that about an inch of my burner assembly arm was laying in a corroded mess on the bottom pan of my dryer. I disassembled my dryer and found that the fan(blower wheel) was "free-spinning" on the motor shaft. A common problem with this model Maytag dryer. I also discovered that the right drum roller (drum support roller) was in the process of failing. Note: the fan drive was frozen on the motor shaft, this was the threaded type of motor and fan assembly. I was able to remove the fan drive by using vice-grip pliers, hammer and a combination wrench to hold motor from turning. Also Note: the fan... Read more
