I took the new seal out of it's packaging and used a blowdryer on low heat to soften up the seal so that the crease from shipping (it was folded to ship) disappeared. Next I took the refrigerator door off, removed the old seal, & cleaned the area where the new seal would be applied. The drain pan (Tray-Evaporator Pan) was cracked in 2 places. We had to remove the front panel. Loosen the bracket that holds the water filter. Take off the back panel and disconnect the bracket that holds the selenoid. It was not necessary to unhook the water lines, just the bracket. It was not easy to remove the old pan and get the new one in, but holding the water filter, with the bracket intact, as far to the left side of the refrigerator as possible gave us the room to get the pan in. ... I have a Whirlpool Side-by-side Model ED22PWXBW01. A year ago, the ice cubes started freezing together in the rear of the ice bin for no apparent reason. This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one. Read more

Thanks to the testimony of others on the site, I knew exactly which parts to order. The triangular holder which keeps the ice storage container was cracked so I replaced it. I also ordered a new Auger Motor Drive Shaft which makes the curvy metal piece in the bin turn. Mine had worn down and would not turn the curvy metal piece anymore. Replacing these pieces worked like a charm. My kids were amazed that ice now comes out of the door after 2 months of having to reach inside. Read more

After watching installation videos on each felt I could pull it off and ordered and received replacement water reservoir and water dispenser tube assembly. Reservoir installation went off without a hitch outside of the added step of the need to remove the entire main in waterline assy in order to access the connectors which also were not as represented in video, in that they were not the press-to-release type but standard threaded compression types. I noticed Ice maker Quit for the third time in 15 years so I decided to buy another Ice maker, I installed it and NO ice still?? Well I went after the other problem thinking if it does not get cold enough maybe ice maker won’t work. I ordered Defrost Switch, Heater and Evaporator Fan just to be safe. The Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker is a good design. The 8 32 screw was a problem I could not remove it with the thread lock it prevented me from unscrewing it. Therefore I replaced the shaft the splined hub and spacer washers. It seems to work fine now. Read more
