Symptoms of a bad Capacitor include:
Wife let me know the microwave was making grinding noise while I was in garage fixing her car starter, never a dull moment. Further questioning she also said it wan't heating the food. Due to being an odd sized built in $$ unit I had to have repaired. I was getting quotes in the $4-500 range for just the magnetron. I was pretty confident the magnetron was the issue and also ordered a new capacitor and diode since I was going to be in there and a lot of money ahead repairing myself. About... Read more

This is a turntable motor intended for use with microwave ovens. A turntable motor is required to rotate the turntable so that food is heated evenly. With time, because of misuse, or as a result of accidental damage, the turntable motor may malfunction or fail. To continue using the appliance efficiently, the turntable motor must be replaced. The primary indication that there is something wrong with the turntable motor is a tray that doesn't spin. When replacing the turntable motor, it is essential to disconnect the machine from the power source. Wear gloves for safety. Unplug your microwave. Took the screws off of the bottom of the unit with it still on the cabinet. The whole bottom panel swung down to expose the turntable motor. I took the power cable loose (just pull it off). It was one screw to take the motor out. Word to the wise: DON'T try to take the plastic coupler off before the motor. Their is a tab that holds it in while the motor is in place. If you pry it up you will break it, trust me. ;) Turn the motor out of its housing and it come right out.... Read more

We followed the manufacturer's instructions about re-positioning the fan motor and installing the vent damper (easy). We constructed a duct system from the microwave to the outside of the house (challenging). We used 3.25" x 10" metal duct to start the system through the wall behind the microwave, where we added framing to reinforce a cut stud. We ran the duct up a closet wall and through its ceiling into the attic. We had to make an offset duct piece from 3.25" x 10" metal duct to clear a... Read more
