Washing machine would not agitate and would not fill water Jennifer B. • Kingston , NH • March 13, 2016
At first, I thought, maybe I should just get a new washing machine. After all, it is almost 20 years old! I couldn't bring myself to do that and said to myself, let me see if I can figure out what parts I need and see if I can find a video that tells me how to do it and see how hard it is. I’ve never attempted appliance repair before. After figuring out what the most likely parts were, I ordered the water level switch and agitator cam repair kit - I figured for $10 more, I might as well...

No spin every thing else worked made high speed ticking noise Anthony D. • Follansbee , WV • May 12, 2015
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in...

Leaking water from the tub seal David C. • Bessemer City , NC • January 27, 2018
THIE REPAIR WAS ON A WHIRLPOOL TOP LOAD WASHING MACHINE
At first I suspected the leak was from the pump because I had replaced the pump 2 times over 10 years. This time with the cabinet removed and filling the tub with water, I saw water running down one of the steel support arms that go under the tub, so I was guessing that it was coming from the tub seal. I had to use a jumper wire to bypass the Lid Switch so the water would drain.
Several months before I had this issue with the water leaking...

Loud rattling or loose agitator during wash? This clip secures the agitator assembly to eliminate noise and restore proper back-and-forth motion. Quick DIY fix.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
The washer was exceptionally loud during agitation cycle. Matt B. • Rio Rancho , NM • July 01, 2022
Found that by manually spinning agitator one direction it seemed free, but spinning counterclockwise it seemed to stick a little. Pulled dispenser and agitator and found the agitator washer hole was oval rather than round. Replaced the agitator washer and the washer seems to sound normally for now. Not sure if the new agitator washer will eventually grind down due to non-circular action from the transmission, or if the agitator and clip will keep the transmission centered long term. Should...

Whirlpool LSQ8000 clothes mover (upper agitator) not working correctly Tom L. • Minneapolis , MN • March 10, 2018
I had replaced the Agitator cams a couple of times already due to my brother-in-law overloading the machine which stripped the teeth off of the cams. I also noticed the agitator seemed to 'wobble' and made 'knocking' noises quite a bit. I reviewed the video on the Appliance Parts Pros web site, disassembled the agitator and cleaned everything up, which helped a little, but not enough. Figuring the agitator itself was worn out also, I looked up and ordered all the parts for the upper agitator on...

Agitator wasnt sloshing Paige B. • Clarksville , TN • January 30, 2015
I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair...

Clothes not sinning dry enough Edward B. • Ellisville , MO • March 07, 2016
Based on recommendation to replace the clutch if clothes aren't spinning dry enough, I ordered a new clutch. Upon disassembly, I observed no Ring Wire/C-Clip and that the bearing appeared worn. Where did the clip go? Well, the bearing wore down such that it wore out the clip and bearing up to the sleeve of the shaft. Knocked out the old bearing, tapped in the new and was done. I disassembled the brake shoes but believe you can get the bearing in and out without doing so. Not a bad job, just...

Direct drive motor coupling failed wouldn't agitate or spin Tim H. • Fort Collins , CO • October 18, 2014
Was set to pull the trigger on a new washer since this one was 10+ years old. Broke a $25 lid switch fumbling to get the washer open before I found the appliancepros video library. Once I got things apart the right way I was able to diagnose the problem in 5 minutes. Identified the $10 part needed. Got the $10 coupling and the $25 switch and had the washer working like new in 20 minutes. I'm pretty proud of myself.. not going to tell anyone about the $25 switch.
