Secures the outer door gasket to prevent water leaks during wash cycles. Replace if rusted, corroded, or the seal isn't holding tight. Confirm fit with model.
The repair was fairly straight foward as shown in the video. However, driving the shaft from the bearings took some doing. It required replacing the use of the board with a spare bolt and a 2lb hand sledge. (having an air hammer as reserve, also not a bad idea) I rated this reair as a "1" however I've been an auto mechanic for 40 years. If you do not have good general mechanical ablities you may find this more challenging as you get it further apart. I suggest anyone making this repair should... Read more

The LG Model LG Washer model WM2487HRMA ISSUE: Washing Machine was filling very slowly. Overnight it would fill about 1 or 2 gallons. Looked online at several websites to see if I could figure out the problem Came across AppliancePartsPros video on replacing bearings. Watched it a couple of times and determined (well, guessed) it was the bearings and/or spider. Followed the video (great job by the way) and disassembled the washer. Secures the inner door gasket to prevent water leaks during wash cycles. Replace if gasket is loose or leaking. Confirm fit with your model number.
The upper counter-balance weight mount design is a poor design to begin with. It started to rattle loose approximately 5yrs into the 8yrs that we've owned it. As it would start to loosen up (as evidenced by the loud banging noise exhibited during operation); I'd shut it down, pull the top off, remove the weight (it was almost always half rattled off at this point), wrap the mount lugs with friction tape (the plastic lugs were being worn down/chaffed by the balance weight), put the weight back... I opted to save myself about $600 by repairing my 8 year old LG washing machine rather than buying a new one. After watching some videos I determined what I needed upon taking my washing machine apart. I ended up replacing the tub (includes spider and shaft), since I could not get the spider part removed from the original tub, as well as the motor bolt (which had broken when I removed it from the original tub's shaft). The spider was cracked and the shaft was wobbling which caused it to... Read more
Fix grinding noises or a drum that won't spin with this washer motor rotor assembly. Common when spline teeth strip. Moderately difficult repair.
I looked on the internet for similar descriptions for similar models and found many angry reports. Most said that the rotor assembly was bad as the nut that held the rotor and other parts together had loosened and allowed slippage between steel and plastic splines. Yes, I know that sounds like trouble, but apparently not to LG when they designed it. Most buyers complained that the part was covered by warrantee but not the labor and labor had been quoted as $400 to $600 dollars. Time to buy... Read more
