Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The burner on a Whirlpool cook top went to high heat and stayed there once the knob was turned on for the burner. Turning the knob to a lower setting did not lower the heat   Jim W. • Houston , TX • June 17, 2019

Had to replace the switch for the left rear burner on a Whirlpool cooktop Model W5CE3625AB00. I turned off the circuit breaker for the cooktop and lifted it out of the countertop. It was simply held down by its own weight. There were approximately a dozen screws holding the smooth surface down onto the rest of the unit. I removed those screws, which allowed the cooking surface to lift back on a hinge in the back of the unit. Two of those screws were stripped, but I was able to remove them... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You One surface element and part of the top glass are broken   Jason S. • Cupertino , CA • November 18, 2014

First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Due to the weight of the glass, all actions have to be done carefully as I broken one corner of the glass couple of years ago when I replaced one of the control switch. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Switch to right/front burner on model mec7430bb03 flush mount cook top showed power on.   Tod C. • Spring Branch , TX • June 07, 2023

I read different reviews and believed the problem was most likely the switch had failed. I confirmed the proper switch for my Model number with a very helpful Pro and ordered a new roll of tape that protects the glass top and seals the union of glass to the counter. In my case, the cooktop did not have any flanges stabilizing the cooktop so I could remove a drawer below the cooktop and push up on the cooktop to separate it from the counter.
