For Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Run Capacitor (Part Number: OEM12947568)

Hello, If the compressor ran for two days and was barely cooler than room temperature, you definitely have a sealed system issue. Either the sealed system has a leak and you have lost freon, or the sealed system has a partial restriction and cannot properly circulate the freon in the system to effectively remove the heat from the unit. I don't think this is a financially feasible unit to repair.

Hello Charm, The two connectors are included in case the new part differs in some way that the manufacturers have determined that these will be necessary to install the new part. Since I have no illustration of the connectors, I can't tell if they are butt connectors or spade connectors. In either case the connectors included with most Frigidaire parts are designed to be crimped onto the wires with a set of crimping pliers. I hope I gave you some information that was useful in your repair. If we can answer any more questions, please feel free to post and we will happily answer as quickly and accurately as we possibly can.

Hello John. You will need to look for a dead short on the unit. These can be very hard to repair, but can be done. Unplug each part, the compressor, temp control, defrost timer, and defrost heater, and fan motors. One at a time and see which one is causing the breaker to trip. Once found, you will need to replace that bad part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Jim J for Model Number Frigidiare Refrigerator #FRT21S6AQ0

I do not hear the compressor run. I bought a new run capacitor and that did not seem to fix it. When I removed the old run capacitor I noticed the old run capacitor was installed upside down is it possible some one tried to work on it and installed it upside down and if it was installed backwards would that burn out the compressor or do any damage to the compressor? I think my renters tried to fix it and installed run capacitor upside down. Any way to check to see if it is good? If the capacitor is not bad is it the relay or what other part would start the compressor? How can one test the compressor if a new relay does not start it what other part might work to start the compressor? The frig is 11 years old and in good shape?

Angus for Model Number 25373084300

My Kenmore Refrigerator stopped freezing and cooling. I cleaned the coils and it worked great for a week before failing again. I had Sears repair come out and he replaced the start relay and the run capacitor, (it had started working again after several days just before he came out). He waited for over an hour for it to start working after replacing the parts. It kept trying to start but it would click off after a few seconds. The repairman said it was encountering head pressure and he ordered a new compressor. It started working and making ice later that evening but failed again by the next morning with the same problem (start relay clicking in and the hum of the compressor failing to start due to head pressure). The repairmans' thoughts were the compressor is either good or bad and not be able to randomly spring back to life. Any experience with this type of problem and what are the chances of a new compressor solving it? The cost is covered under maintenence contract so that is not an issue.

Hello Angus. It is possible that the problem is the compressor, but there is a very real possibility that the problem is actually a sealed system restriction. While it is not my job to criticise or critique another technician, I have had over 20 years of experience in sealed system repair and I wouldn't waste my time working on this one without changing the compressor, filter/drier, evaporator coil, and heat exchange assemblies. While anyone can be wrong, this still changes all of the areas where restrictions commonly occur. I hope this is helpful and have a great day!

Hi Ben. I presume you mean the freezer is not 0° anymore. Can you see if the back wall of the freezer is frosted up w/ frost ? Open this cover and you may see the coils completely frozen over ? If so the shut the door and get a large blade screwdriver. Turn it until you get to the first heavy click. This now will shut off the compressor and fans allowing the defrost circuit to come on. Wait a minute and then look into the bottom of the freezer coils. Is the heater coming on ? If so then replace the defrost timer part # 215846602. You will need to test the defrost thermostat part # 5303918202 clipped to the top rt. evaporator (fzr)coils. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to make sure your defrost timer sends the 120 vac to the thermostat on one side and the white wire at the heater. Make sure the heater has approx. 8-18ohms resistance. If open then the heater needs replaced part # 5303918208. Thank You.

Hello Dan. Look and see if the frost pattern on the evaporator is full or partial. If partial, you have a restriction in the unit. Also, a cold filter dryer means there is a restriction or low freon. Hope this helps.
