For Frigidaire Refrigerator Compressor Run Capacitor (Part Number: OEM12947568)

Mike for Model Number FFU20FK1CW1

My upright freezer was working fine until a couple days ago when it started thawing out. There was no frost on the condenser but I did have to clean out the drain. I thought the defrost timer was sticking so I turned the knob until there was a solid click and waited for it to go thru the defrost cycle.I heard the compressor try to come on and then stop after a few seconds. The compressor was pretty warm. It never did start cooling again. What could the problem be?

Hi Tim. We will need to have your exact model #. What are the last 2 letters of the model # because the compressor start relay is vey specific of a compressor type used. Thank you.

John, A one hour power failure should not have caused a major thawing issue. If anything did get damaged due to the power failure, it most likely would be the electronic control board 216979700 , located inside the compressor compartment, or the digital display/control board 216979600 in the handle assembly. These components are more susceptible to voltage problems. Thanks and Good Luck.

Dave, It would be neither, at this point, you need to suspect an air leak around the door gasket, use a thick piece of paper or dollar bill and make sure there is resistance, when you pull the paper out from between the door and front flange of the freezer cabinet. Then check the cold control, it could be sticking, causing excessive run time. This style freezer has no "defrost" components. Thanks and Good Luck.

I threw the breaker on my outlet that my freezer was plugged into, and didn't realize it until a couple of days later. Since I lost everything inside I decided it was a good time to clean out the freezer. Ran the water hose inside the freezer to wash it out. Went to plug it in after it had dried out and I hear the compressor(black ball looking inside the panel) run, but the freezer never gets cold. Is there I can check before I have to make a service call? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Walt for Model Number Kenmore #25336801892

I just finished cleaning this refrigerator in the back yard with the garden hose, used to keep in the garage for extra soda and ice. It has been standing upright forever so I don't think it's the compressor oil locking it up. I plugged it up. It was working just fine before I cleaned it and for 30 minutes or so after I finished cleaning it. The freezer fan was blowing, the refrigerator light was on, and it was cooling. Now the compressor is not kicking on at all and both compartments are warming up. The refrigerator light is on, but the freezer fan isn't blowing. It's as if some parts of the machine aren't getting power. With this older model, replacing the compressor is not going to happen. Could the capacitor be the problem? Should I totally unplug it since the compressor is very warm? How do you troubleshoot this?

Hi Walt. It sounds like you could use compressor starter relay part #5304491944. Make sure both your condensor and evaporator fans work and temperature controls are both set mid point. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Hello Cheryl. Is the fan motor 5303918549 inside the freezer running? Also, feel of the filter dryer on the back of the refrigerator by the compressor and see if it is warm or cold. Thanks.

Hello Ray! The model number supplied, FRT16CRHD4, does not have a cooling fan for the compressor. Is there any ice building up in the back of the freezer compartment? Thanks!
