The Drain Pump Assembly is an OEM part for Frigidaire dishwashers. It plays a critical role in the dishwasher's operation by removing the used water at the end of each wash cycle, ensuring the machine is ready for the next load. This assembly includes the pump that powers the expulsion of water, along with any necessary housing and fittings to connect it securely to the dishwasher's system.

Causes of a bad part can vary from clogs formed by food particles or other debris, to mechanical failure of the pump motor itself.

Symptoms of a bad Drain Pump Assembly include:

  • Water not draining properly from the dishwasher
  • Unusual noises coming from the pump area
  • The dishwasher fails to start a wash cycle due to the system detecting water from a previous cycle still inside.

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

Questions & Answers

For Frigidaire Drain Pump Assembly (Part Number: OEM17071302)

Hello Bill, You will need to dis-continue power to the unit and remove the kickpanel to access the drain pump. Be sure to use a wet-vac to remove the water from the unit before removing the drain pump. You will need to have a towel to catch the small amount of water that will still be present in the sump area when the pump is removed and dis-connect the two wires to the pump and depress the locking tab to unscrew the pump from the sump housing, (about 1/4 turn). Before you re-install the drain pump you will need to make sure the seal/"O" ring is present and properly positioned. Also check for leaks by letting the unit fill with water before re-installing the kickpanel.

Hello Johnny, This will either be a restricted drain for a plumber to correct or the siphon break is defective.

Ron, You will want to pull the drain pump and make sure that there is nothing clogged in the drain which would cause the unit to not drain. If it is clear then the drain pump will most likely be faulty.

Hello Rick. Check and see if there is power coming to the pump. If so, and the pump does not drain, you will need to order and replace the pump on the unit.

Frank, You will want to check the drain line to make sure that it goes up to at least a 32" loop before going into the sink drain. If not then this will cause water to flow back into the unit. You will also want to make sure that the water valve is not leaking and causing the issue.

Hello Keni. You need to uninstall the dishwasher and lay it on it's back. Then remove the clamp securing the motor to the tub. Then you can remove the motor from the sump from the unit.

Hi, I have installed this drain pump but can't see where the Orange flap goes. There was nothing like it in the part I pulled out. There's flap in the drain tube coming out of the drain pump, but it looks fine, doesn't seem to need replacing. l saw a mention of the "sump assembly" but since I didn't touch that at all when I removed the old pump, I'm not sure how it's related. Do I have to take apart the circulation motor to get to the sump? Any help here would be very appreciated.

1 Answer

Colleen, The orange flap may not be necessary. If the flapper that you show coming out of the drain tube for the pump looks ok with no damage then it would not be required as this is to replace that part if necessary.
