Terr September 04, 2017 How can you test the filter head to see if it is working. Is there a way to activate with the filter off. I have read that there is a switch on the filter head you could press to see if water is coming thru if so where is located. Have a ge side by side that uses the mwf filter
1 Answer Terr, The only way to test to see if the filter head is working is by putting the bypass in and see if water will come out. Read More...
George January 13, 2016 for Model Number PSW23PSSCSS Reference Order#6174582 I just replaced the original Water Filter Head & Tube Assembly with your #AP5949931 GE #WR17X20860. (This is apparently is an update to an older GE #WR17X11618). Installation was straightforward, nice directions, thanks! I cannot get the filter cartridge to seat properly on the new filter head. Is there an updated cartridge part number that fits the updated head? Thanks
1 Answer Hello George, The manufacturer has subbed this part from the original part number. The filter needed for this filter head assembly is MWFP. Read More...
Scott January 08, 2016 for Model Number PSS26NGPAWW I just replaced the Water Filter Head and Tube Assembly with genuine part from your store, but am still not getting water dispensed to the door with either the filter or bypass plug installed. I can hear water getting dispensed into the filter/plug when I activate the door lever, but water doesn't make it to the door. When I subsequently remove the filter/plug, a small amount of water bursts out under high pressure. What can I try next? (History: the door stopped dispensing water 1 day after I installed a new GE MWF water filter. Unit continues to dispense ice through door. Unclear if icemaker is still making ice. Have never had problems with water or ice dispensing before.)
1 Answer Hello Scott. It sounds like the water line in the freezer door is frozen and will need to be thawed out in the unit. Remove the line from the bottom of the door and see if water comes out there. If so, it is frozen in the door. You can use a hair dryer to thaw the line but it takes some time. Be careful not to melt the door. Read More...
Jim November 23, 2015 for Model Number PDS22MIWBCC After removing old filter to replace with new the filter head sprays water. I believe the valve in the water filter head is bad. I replaced filter with new and now have very little water flow at dispenser. I did replace defective water pump prior to this problem. Do you think it could be water filter head that needs to be replaced??
1 Answer Jim, The water filter head would be the issue for the low water flow with the filter in and it spraying water when changing the filter. The part number for the filter head will be WR02X45206. Read More...
Ms N November 04, 2015 for Model Number PCE23NGTDFBB I need to replace the Water Filter head assembly on my fridge PCE23NGTDFBB as it has developed a leak where it attaches to the water inlet valve. Will this be the correct part for my model? Thanks
Ralph G. July 21, 2015 for Model Number PSS26NGPAWW Just replaced the non-leaking, non-GE water filter cartridge with a supposed genuine GE MWF filter cartridge & now have water dripping off the filter cartridge. Is this indicative of a faulty cartridge? Should the O-rings on the filter head be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Ralph. If the filter is installed properly, then this would indicate the filter head WR02X45206 may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Kim May 25, 2015 for Model Number GE PSS26MSTE SS I have a GE Profile side by side refrigerator. I just replaced the damper assembly and water reservoir. I put everything back together, and now the water filter cartridge won't go into the head assembly. I've replaced the filter every six months for years now and never had a problem. Usually once you get the filter started, the assembly automatically sucks it up into place. This is not happening. Do I need to replace the assembly, or is this a different problem? Thanks!
1 Answer Kim, If the filter will not go into the filter head then either the filter is defective or the filter head assembly would need to be replaced. This would be the most likely cause is that the water filter head and tube assembly is defective. Read More...
David L October 16, 2014 for Model Number wr57x10032 My friend will produce ice but not water from the dispenser when the plug is in place. If I replace the plug with a filter, it leaks. Does this mean I need to replace both the valve AND the Filter Head Assembly?
1 Answer Hello David. It sounds like you need to start with the filter head. If issue continues then you would go to the water valve. Read More...
Grace C August 07, 2014 for Model Number PSS27NGPACC The water line leading to the door is cracked and leaking all over the floor. How do we replace that line?
1 Answer Grace, If the water line that is broken is the line that is actually in the door then the door would need to be replaced. If the water line is just the one that goes from the back of the unit to the door then you will need to replace the water tank in the unit. To replace you will pull the unit out and shut off the water supply. Remove the lower cover and disconnect the tube that leads up into the refrigerator compartment. Then remove the kickplate on the front of the unit and disconnect the water line at the door. Open the refrigerator door and remove the lower crisper drawers and remove the water tank and insert the new one. Pay close attention to how the water tube is routed for the door. Read More...
Tr July 15, 2014 for Model Number PSS26LSRCSS I have a GE PSS26LSRCSS. A water line coming out of the water inlet valve has split open (unit is almost 10 yrs old) so water spills on the floor and the water dispenser doesn't work. Ice maker runs fine. This faulty water line is about 5"-6" long and comes out of an insulated hole just above the water inlet valve. Then, it goes into the water inlet valve. There's almost no give in this tube as it comes through that insulated hole. How can I replace this water line/fix this problem? Thanks, Tom
1 Answer Tr, The tube that you are referring to would be the line that goes to the water tank and if there is no slack the water tank would need to be replaced. The part number for the water tank is WR17X11440. Read More...
