Johnathon April 23, 2011 for Model Number PSS5NGMD BB I turned the power off and installed this part (AP3775595). Everything went fine. I turned the fridge back on and now the temperature control panel does not show any readouts. As you are aware it is extremely unlikely that anything has shorted out. I hate coincidences so am extrely wary of just replacing the control panel. If some how the new part is the cause, I will damge a new control panel. What do you recommend? Order a new control panel and assume it was a coincidence, or return this part and order a replacement and a new control panel? Something else.
1 Answer Hello Johnathon. First retrace your steps and make sure there are no wires loose or unpluged. If everything looks good, you will need to test and see if there is power coming to the control panel. If there is power there, but no display, you will need to change the control panel. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John April 23, 2011 for Model Number PSS25NGMD BB I purchased this Damper door kit from you and am trying to install it. The hole in the frige that leads from the freezer has styrofoam poking through making it impossible to clip in the new nozzle. Do I just keep cutting out that styrofoam until the nozzle fits?
1 Answer Hello John. The nozzle snaps into the side wall. You may need to trim some of the styrofoam to seat the nozzle properly. There should have been an instruction sheet with the part. Hope this helps. Read More...
Greg April 07, 2011 for Model Number GSS25LGPA BB My refrigerator is freezing food in vegetable trays and on shelves. I've set the temp control down to 3 and seems to help somewhat. Could this be a damper issue? I normally keep the setting set at 5 but recently had to set at 3 due to freezing food such as mashed potatoes and carrots.
1 Answer Hello Greg. You will need to test the thermister temperature sensors WR55X10025 inside the refrigerator section. Here is a chart to go by when testing them. Hope this helps. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms Read More...
Raising Cain March 26, 2011 for Model Number PSS26LGSCBB (GE) Food is freezing in the veg pan and the lower pan. Looked up this problem on line and everyone recommends Veg Kit WR49X10045, but I can not find any other sources that confirms this kit is for GE Model PSS26LGSCBB. What is your thoughts and recommendation?
1 Answer Raising Cain, I've researched your question, and yes, the kitWR49X10045 will reduce the air flow to the vegetable bin(s) and reduce the temperature to solve the freezing vegetables " This kit is designed to eliminate freezing issues in the middle and bottom pans (including Custom Cool) for Arctica side-by-side refrigerators. The cause of this problem is excessive airflow from the vents in the lower portion of the air tower. The use of this kit will increase the middle and bottom pan temperatures several degrees to prevent freezing in either pan". Hope this helps. Good Luck. Read More...
Sherry March 24, 2011 for Model Number PSI23SGMDBS I ordered the new GE damper assembly from you. My only question is on the old assembly the styrofoam was cut out on the assembly so air flow went directly into refrigerator....this area is not cut out on the new parts. Is it supposed to be or is this what they have changed to keep things from freezing? On your diagram picture you can see the white styrofoam piece facing you showing through the plastic on part.
1 Answer Hello Sherry. I would leave the styrofoam in the new part. According to the manufacturer the damper and fan assembly have been updated to prevent freezing in the refrigerator. Hope this helps. Read More...
Arlan February 17, 2011 food keeps freezing in the fresh food section GE model# ESS25LSPABS side by side. the fan sounds different. i wonder if it is the damper. i know very little about a refrigerator does it give good directions to install it?
1 Answer It is a common problem that the damper would fail in these units, if it does the fresh food section just gets constant cold air. The fan would sound louder as the damper would be open at all times. There is always the chance some ice build up is blocking the door, if you can access it, check for that. This is not that hard to change as it is easy to access, it does come with basic instructions on how to install it. They are not step by step but they give the basics. Read More...
