Greggva December 01, 2019 for Model Number GDT580SMF7ES Should the switch/float travel the entire distance of the flood switch. I have read that new ones "rattle" when you shake them and mine did not and water was not coming into the washer. I used the probes on my multimeter to dislodge the float and which was stuck at the top and it "rattled" again. I reinstalled and it fills with water again. I am guessing it was sending a flooded signal to the water control valve. I am wondering if the float should have more travel though. I tested the center pins on the row of four and got ~11k ohms also.
1 Answer Hello GreggVA, a stuck float switch will cause the control board to think the dishwasher is filled with water. If it was stuck and you were able to free it and now the dishwasher is working, then that was the only cause however it is likely to stick again, This could be due to food debris, hard water residue etc. You can try using a dishwasher cleaner but if it reoccurs just replace the float WD21X10519. Jimmy February 01, 2019 for Model Number GTD550HGD4WW My daughter broke the wires from the float switch without disconnecting them. I just wanted to know if the wires had a connector on the opposite end from the switch so we could just replace the whole wiring harness? The end that plugs into the switch doesn't look repairable unless I can find the small metal tabs that fit in the connector? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Jimmy, I would simply cut off whatever part of the old connector is still present and go to a hardware or automotive store and get some crimp on connectors. Strip back about 1/4 inch of the insulation on the wires and crimp the connectors on, (usually 1/4 inch female spade connectors). Plug them in and you're good to go. This is an inexpensive way to repair it. Read More...
Bret January 25, 2019 for Model Number GDF520PGD2CC I am wanting to know if there is a procedure for testing the float switch part #WD21X10519 in a GE dishwasher #GDF520PGD2CC. I have read that the float switch has an internal Thermistor and can go bad and not allow the heating element to turn on. The heating element tested good for continuity. What prongs do I test for OHMS and what ohm reading should I get for the internal thermistor in the float switch? THanks
1 Answer Hello Bret, the thermistor located on the float switch assembly should give you approximately 11k ohms at room temperature. You can test this resistance on the main board on location J711 pin 6 and 7. Thanks! Read More...

Jason April 30, 2018 for Model Number GDF610PSJ2SS I was changing my flood sensor and when I pulled it out the wires came out of the quick connect I need to know what sequence the wires go in to reconnect the quick connect? And do they go on the clip side or the back?
1 Answer Hello Jason. Sorry, the manufacturer does not offer any information for how the wires go into the connector. It sounds like you damaged the harness and will need to replace the wiring harness on the unit. Thank you. Read More...
Chris T. April 27, 2018 for Model Number GDF520PGD1BB I have water sitting in the bottom of the tub. I have checked pipes and air gap, no issues. I am looking at the assembly and it appears to be full of gunk. Could that be my issue? If I disconnect it and clean it off will that resolve the issue, or should I replace it?
1 Answer Hello Chris, Since this WD21X10519 is an electronic part, it would be best to replace it. Read More...
Roger Strickland January 30, 2018 for Model Number GDT530PSD1SS Hey I have a GE Dishwasher GDT530PSD1SS .. Leaks at bottom of door when washing . Does it a lot sometimes and none at times. We replaced door gaskets. One in cabinet and one on bottom of door. We just slide bottom door gasket out and new one in. Gasket not tight fit. But looks OK. Still leaks. Do we need to replace Float Valve or water fill valve ?? How do I replace float valve if bad . Or give me advice on what to replace or check. Thank You..
1 Answer Roger, This issue will most likely be that the unit is overfilling with water and would likely be the flood switch. Read More...
Dp January 28, 2018 for Model Number GDT580SSF0SS We removed our dishwasher flood switch WD21X10519 to clean out the debris etc. but concerned that when putting it back it may not have seated appropriately. Is there possibility of water leak around the flood switch. We did secure the 2 gasket screws that hold the flood switch under the gasket. How do we verify that we secured the flood switch correctly please?
1 Answer DP, If you followed the reverse of the removal procedure, and got the screws tightened properly, you shouldn't have a problem. Remove the lower spray arm and rack, remove the filter vents(twist lock design (turn counter clockwise to remove), remove the course filter, remove the filter adapter(tab lock design) by pulling up on the adapter, remove any water in the area, remove the two(2) 1/4 in. hex head screws securing the flood switch and floor plate to the sump, disconnect the wire harness from underneath the sump and remove the assembly. If you did have an issue with the reinstallation, the wire harness would not twist and lock into place, and / or you'll see water dripping out the bottom of the float switch wire harness.
