For Samsung Evaporator Defrost Heater Bracket For Refrigerator (Part Number: OEM13002471)

Max, the evaporator sensor DA32-10104N is a potential cause of this issue. The sensor can be tested for resistance and should measure 4.22KO at 86°F, 6.05KO at 68°, 8.87KO at 50°, 13.29KO at 32°, 20.42KO at 14°, and 32.23KO at -4°. If the sensor tests within 10% range of the resistance at the related temperatures, then it is likely that the main control DA92-00384K is not cycling the defrost properly.

Mike, Usually, the problem is the defrost drain gets clogged and backs up into the refrigerator and overflows into the drawers and underneath. The drain tubes have been updated and the pair should be replaced. DA97-04049D You will still need to clear the drain in the refrigerator compartment until all ice is cleared and drains easily.

Tim, You will want to open the back of the refrigerator compartment and check to see if the coils are impacted with ice. If they are then the issue will be a defrost problem. You will want to test the defrost thermistor, the defrost bi-metal and the defrost heater for being defective. If this checks ok then the issue will be the main control board.

Arnie, For this issue you will want to install the heater plate DA61-14306A in the refrigerator section to the heater. This will help keep the drain from freezing.

Rick for Model Number RF4287HARS/XAA-0000

My evaporator fan iced up and was making a loud humming sound which I discovered on the internet is fairly common. I removed the cover and melted the ice with a hair dryer and noticed the drain was frozen closed. I cleared the drain and verified it was draining freely and verified the defrost heater was working. I read that I should replace the drain clip with a longer one to fit further into the drain hole. I thought your part DA61-06796A would be the one but per your compatibility ref. will not fit. What part number do you recommend an will it solve the fan icing problem? Thanks, Rick

Hello Craig. There is a duck bill valve under the unit. On the drain hose. You will need to remove that and clean it out. Thank you.

Hello hd97elec. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater DA47-00244A and the defrost thermostat DA47-00243K. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the control board DA41-00620B. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
