Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM12485496)

Doyle, While it is possible that the water tank could be the issue, you will also want to make sure that you have a good water filter in the unit. The water tank is located behind the crisper drawers under a cover. There is a water tank heater that would need to be checked to make sure that it is working. If the tank is frozen then the heater would most likely be bad or the control board not sending power to the heater. This can be checked at the control board to make sure that the board is sending the power. If not then replaced the control board. If so then the heater would be the cause.

Willy for Model Number RS265LABP

In March you answered this question for me: Water is not being dispensed but ice is being made. I hear a noise like a motor humming when I try to dispense water. Would I need to replace only the inlet valve? Model RS265LABP. Part Number: AP416558 The problem was in fact a frozen water tank and I took the actions you suggested. The tank is frozen again causing water to leak to the floor from the bottom of fridge. Setting now are 40* and 4*. How can I fix this freezing issue? Thanks Willy

Willy, With the water tank freezing again then the issue may be that the water tank heater may be faulty. The heater part number is DA47-00200C.

Hello Mike. Check and see if a water line is vibrating against the cabinet or if the noise is coming from the water valve and you need to replace the valve DA62-02360B on the unit.

Mike, You will want to pull the refrigerator out and use the water dispenser. It sounds like the water pressure may be higher and causing the water line to jump when the water lever is released. It is also possible that the valve is faulty and not fully opening when calling for water which would also cause the jumping noise.

Hello Willy, If the water valve is humming, you need to make sure the issue is the valve before ordering it. The water tank in the bottom of the fresh food compartment may be frozen. Dis-connect the water line at the base of the door and put it in a shallow pan. If water comes out there with the door shut and the dispense button is depressed, the water line in the door is frozen. If it doesn't come out, remove the larger water line from the bottom of the water valve and try it again. If water comes out, the water tank is frozen. If no water comes out, the valve has failed. As a note, if the water tank is frozen, remove the drawers and use a hair dryer to thaw it. This will take about 15 minutes. You will then need to adjust the fresh food temperature one setting COLDER to increase the air circulation to prevent the cold air from settling to the bottom and freezing it again. Set the freezer setting one setting warmer to circulate a bit warmer air in the future. If the door water line is frozen, heat the outside freezer door panel with a hair dryer for 20 to 25 minutes (with the door opened) to thaw it out and adjust the settings as previously discussed.

Hello Jeremy. The manufacturer is not providing any information on the difference in the parts. Parts are model specific and can make a difference. Per your model number part# DA62-00914B Is what Samsung says will work. Looking at the picture of the valve the only difference I can see it that the cheaper part uses threaded connectors, and Part# DA62-00914B uses the quick connect John Guess fittings. If you decide to order the cheaper part you will need the water line connectors part# 8201513 and WP627018

I probably should have asked this before I ordered your part (AP4165558) just now... water is coming into the valve water is going out to the dispenser water is NOT in the line going to the ice maker electrical current appears to be coming into the valve My assumption is the valve is not working properly. What do you think? I've got in-laws coming this weekend and they like ice! I hope it makes it in time...hindsight, I should have 2nd day'ed it.

Hello Glenn. Based on the information you provided, it is all pointing toward a bad valve and the valve will need to be replaced on the unit.
