Robert January 08, 2014 for Model Number AFB2534DEW The defrost system is not functioning. Obviously, there are three components that may be at fault…CB, Thermistor or Heater, right? What is the simplest way to determine which is the culprit, short of replacing one at a time?
1 Answer Hello Robert. You will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the control board. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jeff January 08, 2014 for Model Number GX5FHDXVY00 The evaporator keeps freezing up. The defrost heater and defrost thermostat both check okay. This leaves the defrost timer. I was told that the timer is part of the board in these models. Is this true and how do you replace it?
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Yes, it is part of the board WPW10503278. Remove light shield by sliding shield to rear to release cover.2. Depress with a screw driver through two slots in the front of the light housing release tabs to release Control Board housing. 3. Control Board housing will drop down exposing Control Board. 4. Unplug two wire harnesses plugged into the Control Board 5. Release tabs holding Control Board to housing. Read More...
Steven December 23, 2013 for Model Number GZ2626gekb the fridge and freezer stopped working. When it is switched on the condenser fan kicks in for a couple of seconds then stops, the compressor sometimes kicks in for a short period ice starts to form on evaporator then stops and thats it never to kick in again. If the fridge door is opened the compressor sometimes kicks in and I have left the door open slightly for 4 days with a towel acting to seal it as best as possible and the whole system runs continuously as if its on "fast freezer" does this sound like the control/display board to you? If so the board i have is a jazz15 and the one your selling is a jazz14 for that model can you confirm this will work and why i have a jazz15 and not a 14? regards Steve
1 Answer Steven, This issue sounds like it would either be a faulty control board or a bad thermistor. The most likely cause would be the control board and the part that you would need is part number WPW10503278. Read More...

Tom September 27, 2013 for Model Number Maytag / Amana ABB2227DEW Compressor stopped working after brief power failure a few days ago. Lights, fans run, but compressor is hot and will not start. Slight burn noticed on electrical plug connection to starter realy. Is there a way to bench test the starter relay to see if that is the problem, before taking a gamble on replacing a rather expensive electronic control board?
1 Answer Tom, The only way to make sure that it is not the board is to check to see if the start relay is getting 120 vac to it. If so then you would want to replace the relay. Read More...

Martin September 04, 2013 for Model Number GB2SHTXTQ00 I have recently purchased this board but am having difficulty accessing the old one to replace it. The directions that I have found are for other models and do not seem to work for the appliance that I have. Can you please advise me on how to remove the overlay and housing to reach the control board on model GB2SHTXTQ00? Thank you!
1 Answer Martin, You will want to remove the light shield in the refrigerator compartment. Once removed look on the back side and find a opening on either side of the back and use a flat blade screwdriver and push straight into the hole. There is a clip that you will be pushing to release the control housing. You will only have to push in on one side at a time and will need to release both sides. Read More...
Dave August 14, 2013 for Model Number abb1924web1 I am having an issue with frosting up evaporator. I replaced the control but the unit still freezes over. Is there a way to put the refrigerator in defrost so I can check the amp draw from the heater coil? Or is there another avenue I should be persuing?
1 Answer Dave, Since the control has already been replaced you will want to pull the rear cover of the freezer and do a continuity test of the defrost heater and thermostat. If one does not have continuity then replace the part. There would be a tech sheet under the right front side of the cabinet that will have forced defrost information to check. Read More...
John August 14, 2013 for Model Number GX5SHDXVB00 I have replaced the control board. When I try to program the board, it will not accept the code listed on the inside of the refrigerator. I have no problem with the instructions and the programming goes well until the last step; the code is entered and the Freezer Down button is pressed. The program code does not flash whether I hold the button down for a long time, short time, or intermittently. Is there an over riding code or another way to program this board?
1 Answer Hello John. No, this is the only way to program the board. Make sure the right code is being entered into the board on the correct side of the read out. Read More...
