The Belt and Isolator Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This kit includes a drive belt and isolators that work together to transfer motion from the motor to the washer drum while dampening vibrations.

Over time, the belt can wear out, stretch, or break due to regular use, heavy loads, or friction. The isolators may also deteriorate, losing their ability to absorb shocks effectively.

Symptoms of a bad Belt and Isolator Kit include:

  • The drum not spinning or agitating
  • Excessive vibration or noise during operation
  • The washer failing to start or complete cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Belt And Isolator Kit (Part Number: OEM12027132)

Hello Addison, The things that you will want to check is to make sure that the pully is not loose on the tub. Also check the gromments WP22003329 on the motor. If they start wearing they can make the motor rock causing belt to come off pully. You will also want to check inner tub for movement up and down. If the inner tub shifts more than 1/8" then the bearings on the rear tub 22004465 may be failing.

Bob L. for Model Number Maytag MAH6500AWW

I have the Maytag MAH6500AWW. Recently the belt came off. It is 10 years old so I imagine it is time to replace the belt. However, I'm concerned that something is not aligned between the drum pulley and the drive motor. The old belt is still intact but when I put it back on and start up the washer it slips off the back of the pulley each time. When I put the belt on and run it around manually I can see that the belt wants to move to the rear of the drum pulley. Is it possible that something could have become misaligned when the belt came off? Will the new belt fix that?

1 Answer

Hello Bob, I think the first thing you should try is to open the door and reach inside the inner tub. With your hand at the top of the inner tub, push up and release several times quickly to feel for "play". If you feel a "clunk" when you do this, the spin bearing has failed and this affects the alignment of the pulleys. The only other thing that will affect the belt in this manner is if the motor mounting bolts are loose.

Nancy S. for Model Number MHW2000AWW

Placed an order for a washing machine belt for my MHW2000AWW . The order part number is AP4009041, with reference to 12001788. The belt inside the bag that arrived reads PN 62722870. The belt was about two inches too short for my machine. I thought that a packaging mishap had occured, phoned you, and you sent out another 12001788. Same belt PN6272870 was in bag. (I did not open it...just read it through clear bag) My question is this: Is this PN 62722870 the correct belt which should be in the 12001788 bag? And, if so, the correct belt for my MHW2000AWW?

1 Answer

Hello Nancy. Yes, 12001788 is the correct belt for your model number and the belt numbers are 62722870 inside the bag. These are very tight to install and require you to start the belt on the small motor pulley and roll it onto the large pulley. Hope this helps.

Hello Rebecca. You will remove the back access panel and start the belt on the motor pulley. Then slowly roll the belt 12001788 onto the large pulley. These are very tight to install the belt on the machine, but will need to be installed this way. Hope this helps.

Chris, It's not the belt, and not likely the motor. The first thing to check is the cold water fill hose screens for debris and sediment. The rinse cycle is automatically cold water, A slow cold water fill will interrupt the cycle. Does the washer drain eventually, and does the tub get to a high spin speed at any point ? It could be a spin enable switch or off balance load switch, but the washer has to drain, first. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Nita. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the outer tub assembly 22004465 is bad and will need to be replaced. This will replace the tub bearings and do a proper repair. Hope this helps.

Brent, What appears in the display on the control panel ? If you wish, you can access the control panel interior and use the technical data sheet to run the diagnostic codes, board output tests, etc. ( unplug the power cord, remove the three screws across the top back arae of the control console, push backwards on the lower front bottom of the controle console and pull the top of the panel towards you, to disengage the console hidden tabs. The Technical data information should be folded up inside. Good Luck

Mark C. for Model Number MAH3000AWW

My drive belt fell off the pulley drum seems to spin freely and the pulley seems to look good. I don't understand what keeps the belt on the pulley. The pulley is smooth. I took clothes out and put belt back on and ran it with no clothes and it worked. Then I put clothes back in and it popped off when it starts too agitate back and forth. Is this because the belt is stretched. Like I said the drum seems to be spining feely when belt is not attached.

1 Answer

Hello Mark. It could be a bad belt 12001788. Try running the unit in spin cycle without clothes in it. If you hear a roaring sounds, the bearings are bad and you will need to replace the outer tub assembly 22004465. Hope this helps.
