For Whirlpool Rotor Position Sensor Kit (Part Number: OEM12981945)

1 Answer

George, The F51 error code for this unit is a Rotor position sensor failure and you will want to replace the RPS kit part number W10183157.

Hello April. The only other parts that can cause that issue is the rotor 280146 having a cracked magnet. Or the board being bad.

Hello GF57, As per the tech sheet for the model you provided: Sd is displayed when the machine/motor control, by analyzing drag on the basket, detects a suds-lock condition, and is steady on while the control then runs a mini-clean out cycle. If the clean out cycle is unable to correct the over-sudsing problem, the cycle ends and Sd flashes in the display. This may signify: ? Load is bunched or twisted around agitator. ? Excessive detergent usage. ? Basket cannot engage during drain step. ? Mechanical friction on drive mechanism, not allowing basket to engage. This may be caused by items between the tubs or the rps on the stator assembly. Since you mentioned the rotor was cracked, look for signs of damage to the rotor and rps since the rotor has to contact something to cause the crack.

John, You'll first want to raise the top of the washer, remove the tub cover and agitator, check for a small article that may be stuck under the agitator, or between the tubs. If all's OK, and there are no abnormal noises from the bearings , then consider replacing the RPS (rotary position switch) assembly kit W10183157. This component communicates the tub rotation speed, if the readings are incorrect because of a loose connection, or false reading from the sensor, the washer can produce a "OL" error code.

Chad for Model Number WTW6400SW2

We have had this model for approximately 5 years and have had no issues up until now. We noticed water underneath of the washer about 1 month ago. We took it apart and discovered a crack in the drain pump due to a coin being lodged into it. We replaced the pump, cleaned all parts and put the components back together. For the next month all issues were resolved and the washer worked like a charm again. The washer has since developed a new issue. Sd is on the display screen and the washer stops cycling before spinning out. It is draining, agitating, but will not spin out. After running the diagnostic check, codes F32 and F71 came up. It is obviously not a soap issue as we have always used the same HE detergent. The other code states something about mechanical friction. Any ideas or answers? Thanks

Hello Chad. Check for bad bearings, something between the inner and outer tubs. If both are good, make sure nothing is clogging the new pump.

Tom for Model Number Whirlpool Cabrio Washer: Model No. WTW6200SW2

I purchased this washer 12/6/07, two years later the mother board had to be replaced. The washer just started acting up again as follows: It has a real problem with small loads, I usually get the unbalanced load error “u9” during the rinse cycle. When I do medium size loads, it stops at the drain & spin mode with the “u9” code. While in the spin cycle the machine is real, real noisy. Please advise, I’m wasting a lot of water & don’t know if it’s worth having repaired.

1 Answer

Hello Tom. There is no u9 code, but is a uL code. This is unbalanced load. If this is your code, you will need to replace the suspension W10820048 on the unit.

Hello George. F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation. ? Does basket turn freely? If not, make sure bottom shipping pack has been removed. Determine cause of friction. This test checks the wiring to the motor and rotor position sensor; and the motor and rotor position sensor themselves. NOTE: Drain water from tub. 1. See Activation of Manual Diagnostic Test Mode, page 3 and check the motor and electrical connections by performing the Spin test under Manual: Motor, page 2. The following steps assumes that this step failed. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Check to see if basket will turn freely. ? If basket turns freely, go to step 4. ? If basket does not turn freely, determine what is causing the mechanical friction or lock up. 4. Remove the console to access the machine/motor control assembly. See Accessing & Removing the Electronic Assemblies, page 6. 5. Visually check that the P5 and P10 connectors are inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. ? If visual checks pass, go to step 6. ? If visual checks fail, reconnect P5 and P10 and repeat step 1. 6. Visually check that the P5 and P10 connectors are inserted all the way into the machine/motor control. ? With an ohmmeter, verify resistance values.
