This is a Whirlpool washer drive motor and control board. The drive motor and motor control board are responsible for the spin cycles of the washer. A faulty motor may show signs of malfunction through a slower than average spin cycle. When the control board shorts out, the washer typically will not spin at all.Begin installation by removing the body of the washer. There are two screws at the base of the console. Remove these screws and flip the console back. Two clips are holding the body in place. Remove them with a flat-head screwdriver. Push these clips and pull the body off the washer. Now that the motor is exposed, remove the screws holding the motor in place with a nut driver. Two more clips fasten the motor. Push these clips with the flat head, and the motor is free to remove. Unplug the control board's wire harness from the washer. The new component is ready for install after these steps. The part is sourced directly from the manufacturer as a genuine OEM product. This kit is sold separately from the washer. This product is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, and Admiral appliances.

Wes for Model Number MAH4000AWW

I have a MAH4000AWW Neptune Washer (S/N: 11280571WD). Unit's not spinning. I replaced the wax motor, and the door locks now. The fuse on the motor control board is blown. Can you confirm which motor control and motor kit I will need to purchase? Also, R11 and Q6 look fine on the machine control board. The spin enable switch shows continuity when the button is pressed, and there is continuity all the way to the P3-7 connector. However, I'm not measuring any voltage on that pin when the door locks. Do I also need a new machine control board?

Wes, Based on your model and serial number information. You will need to install the "Motor Conversion Kit " 12002039, Thanks

Rob, You will want to look at the main control board on the unit and look for a burnt resistor. If the R11 resistor is burnt you will need to replace the main control board and the wax motor. If it is not burnt then you would need to replace the wax motor.

Hello Mike, You are correct. The motor conversion kit 12002039 is the part you will need to replace since the original motor control board is discontinued for repeated failures. The motor has to be replaced since the new board will not work with the old motor. Don't completely freak out over it though since the motor conversion kit is about the cost of the old board without a motor with it. instructions come with the kit.

Marie, You'll need to move the washer out away from the wall and remove the back panel, and start the washer. You'll need to be very careful of the moving parts, but when the noise is made, observe the motor, it may be shifting on worn out motor mounts WP22003329 causing the noise or the belt to shift and make noise. Observe the belt 12001788 on the main pulley, make sure it has not worn out and slips on the pulley Also observe the motor/belt, if there is a "studdering" appearance when the motor changes direction this would indicate an issue in the motor control board 22004473 if alls OK, then you'll need to listen closely to the main drive pulley, you may have a set of worn out or loose drum bearings.

Hello Eric, Installing the motor kit 12002039 should eliminate the abnormal motor noise. It sounds like the belt but it is caused by what the engineers are calling brinelling.

Hello Randy, It may be possible that you have the wrong Motor control board. This model incorporates several control boards and installing wrong control will cause problems. You can tell the series number on the unit by the 2 digits at the begining of the the serial number. Also you want to check your cold water fill. Make sure screens are not clogged at the water valve, make sure that there is plenty of cold water getting to unit. Check the pressure switch hose to make sure that it is not clogged or kinked.

Mae, Are you sure the repairman said you need a new motor ? And not a new outer tub assembly or tub bearings ? Sorry but No, if the motor bearings are damaged or noisy they are not available as a separate component, and the motor assembly or motor kit will need to be replaced. Replacing the motor assembly is not that difficult for an average DIY'r The hardest part is moving the washer to access the parts that need to be replaced. If you re post with the model and serial number of your washer, we'll be happy to research the proper parts you need and advise you of the repair procedure. Thanks

Ak for Model Number AP4010145

Hi. I have an MHW2000AWW model number 10205110UM. After the AppliancePros rep suggested I bought this part (AP4010145) to replace the motor and control board. The washer will not go into a spin cycle. It will spin, but very very slow and the clothes come out completely wet. I cannot run the diagnostics on this control board, since the tech sheet that comes with the washer has an older control board by Maytag, which comes with multiple separate wiring. Looks like Maytag consolidated the wiring into this new model. Can you help me find out why the motor doesn't spin?

1 Answer

Hello AK, Using a multi-meter you want to check voltage to at the machine control board. Check connector P5 White wire to connector P3 pin 7 and there should be 24vdc. This is the spin enable circuit. You also want to check P5 to P7 pin 4 for 120vac this is the wax motor for the door latch. Also check all wiring for loose connection. If you have 120 vac to wax motor but nothing to the spin enable circuit then you have bad machine control board WP22004325.
