Robert B. May 16, 2011 for Model Number LAT9593AAL I installed AP4011179 belts. The new belts, and also the old ones which I removed, were very loose on the pulleys, even after I shifted the pump to the extreme outboard position in the mounting slots. The motor tensioner is operating ok. I have never seen v-belts operate this loose. Should they be this loose?
1 Answer Hello Robert. Yes, the belts on the LAT models run very loose. You will need to reposition the pump assembly. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Vick! You will need to test the lid switch W10820036. You can test this using a multimeter MA-DM1. Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Richard April 25, 2011 for Model Number LAT9206BAE The agitator does not create turbulence or suds in the water. The agitator base moves back and forth ever so slowly but with force. It is not slipping. The spin cycle works fine. Could the belts be slipping or is the problem in the transmission?
1 Answer Hello Richard. You will want to remove the belts and try to manually turn the pulley. When you turn it one way, it should turn the tub with it along with a little friction when your turning it. Turn it the other way and it should turn the agitator with almost no resistance. If you have resistance when turning it while it turns the agitator you will have to replace the transmission. If everything turns fine, look at part 205000, to make sure it's centered on the base. Hope this helps! Read More...

Ron March 17, 2011 for Model Number LA 211 Thank you for the suggestion that worn damper pads may be contributing to the high vibration during the spin cycle. How difficult is it to remove the transmission & damper assembly in order to access the pads? It appears the drive pulley must be removed from the transmission shaft. Is this a major task?
1 Answer Hello Ron. These are not easy, but not to hard to do. Do not remove the pulley. You can loosen the tub springs (do NOT remove them) and use a board under the pulley to raise it enough to replace the pads. Hope this helps. Read More...
Ron March 16, 2011 for Model Number LA211 The reason I want to replace the drive belts on the LA211 washer is that the washer vibrates badly during the spin cycle (even without water or clothes). I suspect the belts are damaged and causing an imbalance. I have not tilted the machine up yet for my inspection. Is there something else I should look for that could be causing the high vibration during spin cycle.
Ron March 14, 2011 for Model Number Maytag LA211 What is the recommended proceedure to replace both the drive & pump belts on the LA211. Is the motor assembly spring loaded, or do you need to loosen bolts to slip the belts on?
1 Answer Hello Ron. These are easy to change. Just lean the machine backwards and roll the old belts off, and roll the new belts on. These run loose to act as the clutch for the machine. You do not need to loosen anything. Hope this helps. Read More...
Guest March 12, 2011 I loosened the 3 small bolts at the pump pulley to tighten that belt but by tightening that belt, it loosens the transmission belt. How do I tighten that belt?
1 Answer Hello. You will need to reposition the pump belt. These are suppose to be loose. They are designed to act as the clutch for the machine. Hope this helps. Read More...
William February 17, 2011 A310 Washer. Where do these two belts go? I can not visually find them with the front cover off. Do I need to remove the rear cover? Do I need to remove a component inside the washer? Thanx. Can you provide a picture?
1 Answer Both the pump and the drive belts go underneath the washer. Very simple to replace, no need to remove the front panel. Simply tip the washer back at about 45 degrees (first make sure the washer is empty of water). Don't lay it flat on its back, it may ruin the transmission. You'll see the pump pulley, the motor pulley, and the big drive pulley. Here is a diagram: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=28786&diagram_id=28323430#d28323430 . I would recommend replacing both belts at once - 12112425. Read More...
