For Whirlpool Brake Rotor (Part Number: OEM18025995)

Hello William, These screws are the exact same diameter and thread as the ones holding the brake stator on with, (part with the sticker warning of th4e 200 lb. spring). Using the longer ones enables you to pull tension down on the spring safely without the special tool that has been discontinued. Since they are too long and not assigned to a model number, we do not have them. These will have to be obtained locally. They MUST be exactly th4e same size and thread so the threads will not be damaged and the original screws can do a proper job holding the 200 lb. spring safely in position.

As my washer agitates, (especially with a full load) it makes a a screeching/rubbing noise as it stops and starts the agitation movements. Everything looks like it works fine other than this noise. If you run a small load with just a few items, it does not make the noise at all. I suspect the brake rotor to be defective, but that looks like it is only a fix about 5-6% of the time for this type of noise....? Any ideas on things to try? Is there a way to test the brake rotor? Also - if you change the brake rotor, does the brake stator and snubber ring need to be changed at the same time? Thanks

Hello William. You will need to look for plastic shavings in the bottom of the machine. If there are some, the snubber ring WP21002026 will need to be replaced to balance the machine.

Phil, You will want to check the pump assembly to ensure that the pump pulley spins freely and that the pump is not clogged. Also check the thrust bearing to ensure that it is lifting the brake and allowing the drum to spin.

Chris for Model Number HAV4657EWW

I have a Maytag HAV4657EWW - purchased in 2004. The machine was very noisy on spin cycle, and was not spinning fast enough to get all of the water out of the clothes. Clothes were still dripping wet. I got a new thrust bearing kit and installed it. This stopped the noise, but the tub is still not spinning fast enough. When I spun the transmission wheel counterclockwise, I did not get any resistance - the wheel spins pretty freely in either direction - the brake cover did not move at all. I used the thin washer that came with the kit b/c a thin washer was originally on the machine. I tried putting the thick washer on after I saw the wheel had no resistance, but I could not get it to go on. Maybe I didnt try hard enough. I don't see why the washer thickness would make a difference in whether or not the wheel has resistance. When I stuck a screwdriver into the slot on the white bottom cam and turned the wheel, THEN I could feel the spring engaging and offering resistance. Don't know if this means anything - but directly under the machine was lots of black dust - all over the floor, and statically clinging to the underside of the machine - mainly around the motor and the transmission. This "dust" is really messy and smears easy. I had thought this "dust" was the belt disentegrating, but the belt looks just fine. Then I thought maybe this was from the carbon motor brushes - but the motor runs just fine. I am thinking it's either the brake or the transmission. If its the brake, what parts would I need? I looked at the schematic on your website and did not see nay parts that looked like they would ever fail. Maybe the "Brake Roto"?The snubber ring wouldn't have anything to do w/this, would it? Any suggestions? Thank you?

Hello Chris. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the transmission 35-6615 is bad and will need to be replaced.

Edward B for Model Number mav6200aww

Everything ok but no spin. Drum locked up tight. Removed belt pulley spins easy in both directions. Replaced thrust bearing assembly could only get thin washer with clip in place. When I spin pulley ccw there is no drag or resistance and drum does not spin. I am trying to get larger washer in place even filed down leading edge of clip an tried prying washer down to make room for clip but im bending plastic wheel when wedging. Next I will try ROUND type clip that has 2 holes to spread clip with special pliers. Even with lager washer wedged into slot for clip still no delay or drag on pulley.

Edward, When you turn the thrust pulley counter clockwise the pulley should push up against the brake and release the brake. If the pulley turns and pushes up the brake but the tub does not turn then it would appear that the tub bearings may be seized and need to be replaced.
