1 Answer

Kiley, The pin part number for the icemaker on the dispenser is WP2196195. You will want to check to make sure that the clip that the pin sits in is not broken and if it is you will need part number 8201756.

My dispenser door fell apart while trying to thaw out/clean up frozen ice maker/dispenser. Still making ice fine, water fine...but the dispenser door spring, pin and then a 3/4" round plastic piece with a rubber washer on it and an arm also came out. Trying to put it all back together but can't reach and/or see the area to figure it all out. It seems the electronic panel is in the way. I can see where the spring and pin go with use of a flashlight, but not once my hand gets up there...What do I need to do?

Brandon for Model Number Whirlpool ED5PBAXVY00

Last night our Ice dispenser froze and got clogged and when we defrosted it that door spring got loose and the pin holding it on popped out. We've repaired that but when we put everything back together the little LED light doesn't come on when you depress the arm and the auger doesn't turn. It just doesn't feel like its triggering anything right now so it seems like we missed getting a part in the right place, wondering if you could tell me what the arm is supposed to initiate contact with to make the system come on? Thanks in advance, Brandon.

Hi Brandon. Open the Fzr. door and tape the door switch closed. Remove the ice bin. Use a cup (w/the door open) and activate the paddle for ice. Is the auger motor turning the top gear ? If the auger motor is bad it is part # W10822606. On the fountain controls, make sure the ribbon cable has gotten plugged in correctly w/ #1 side of the cable is correct w/ the board receptacle. The #1 is noted by carefully looking at the ribbon ends and seeing that there is a skipped area where # 2 connection should go. It instead is skipped to denote the proper plug-in reference just spoken of. #2 is the next in line and so on and so forth. They all need to be plugged in squarely and tight. Look at all the pin connections at the board for tight proper connections also. If you are referencing the Emitter / Receiver boards at the top inside's of the freezer then you need to make sure that the switch there on the rt. board is on. Make sure the paddle on the lt. side is tapped shut (as well as the door sw) and if it is OK, it will blink 1/2 sec. on and 1/2 sec. off normally. Behind the front toe kick grill there are 2 separate tech. sheets. One of them (tan colored one) is just for putting the board in a diagnostic mode to see if they need replaced. They are part # W11629974. They might have a loose connection also at their own power plugs. You should get 120vac on the rt. board blk/wht wire to the white wire (neutral). Thank You.

Hi Phil. Look from the outside chute area with a flashlight and see if the chute is working. Remove the ice bin enclosure and tape the door switch closed. Call For ice, is the dispenser auger motor turning? Look into the ice bin and see if the auger itself is frozen in the bottom of the bin. Dry it completely if it is. If the dispenser auger motor is not turning, then this part needs checked for 120 vac while asking for ice. If you are getting 120 vac, then the auger motor part # is W10822635. If your chute is not fully closing and allowing moist air to back up into the bin, it will freeze the auger assy. This chute kit part # is W10823377. Thank You.

Hi Tom.There is the ice door chute arm that holds the flapper closed onto the chute opening. The spring strattles this arm with both openings at the top. There is a metal pin that goes sideways into the spring and through the top of this arm. There is a ice door kit that will insure that you have proper operations of the chute flap. It has the instructions also. This part # is W10823377. Thank you.

Hello Barbara. You will need to remove the drip tray from the dispenser. Then start at the bottom corners of the front cover and unsnap the cover from the refrigerator. Once removed, you can access and replace the dispenser door spring WPW10224328. Be careful when unsnapping the cover not to break it. Hope this helps.
