Kiley September 14, 2014 I pulled apart my ice dispenser using your video and realized that my ice door doesn't work properly because it's missing the spring mechanism with the pin. I know I need this part (#W10224328), but can I also purchase a new pin that holds the spring in place? Both the spring and the pin are missing from my dispenser, but nothing is broken on the door.
1 Answer Kiley, The pin part number for the icemaker on the dispenser is WP2196195. You will want to check to make sure that the clip that the pin sits in is not broken and if it is you will need part number 8201756. Read More...
Anders August 25, 2014 for Model Number 10653604202 The door on the ice shoot doesn't shut after the ice comes out causing the ice to melt and water to leak on to the tray. If I replace the Spring part #W10224328 will that help the door to close? or do I need to replace a different part?
1 Answer Hello Anders. Look and see if the tab is broken for the flapper. If so, order and install this kit 8201756. Read More...
Eddie June 11, 2012 for Model Number KSRJ25CNST00 My dispenser door fell apart while trying to thaw out/clean up frozen ice maker/dispenser. Still making ice fine, water fine...but the dispenser door spring, pin and then a 3/4" round plastic piece with a rubber washer on it and an arm also came out. Trying to put it all back together but can't reach and/or see the area to figure it all out. It seems the electronic panel is in the way. I can see where the spring and pin go with use of a flashlight, but not once my hand gets up there...What do I need to do?
1 Answer Hello Eddie. The only way to repair the issue is to order and replace the door kit 8201756 in the unit. Read More...
Brandon January 29, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool ED5PBAXVY00 Last night our Ice dispenser froze and got clogged and when we defrosted it that door spring got loose and the pin holding it on popped out. We've repaired that but when we put everything back together the little LED light doesn't come on when you depress the arm and the auger doesn't turn. It just doesn't feel like its triggering anything right now so it seems like we missed getting a part in the right place, wondering if you could tell me what the arm is supposed to initiate contact with to make the system come on? Thanks in advance, Brandon.
1 Answer Hi Brandon. Open the Fzr. door and tape the door switch closed. Remove the ice bin. Use a cup (w/the door open) and activate the paddle for ice. Is the auger motor turning the top gear ? If the auger motor is bad it is part # W10822606. On the fountain controls, make sure the ribbon cable has gotten plugged in correctly w/ #1 side of the cable is correct w/ the board receptacle. The #1 is noted by carefully looking at the ribbon ends and seeing that there is a skipped area where # 2 connection should go. It instead is skipped to denote the proper plug-in reference just spoken of. #2 is the next in line and so on and so forth. They all need to be plugged in squarely and tight. Look at all the pin connections at the board for tight proper connections also. If you are referencing the Emitter / Receiver boards at the top inside's of the freezer then you need to make sure that the switch there on the rt. board is on. Make sure the paddle on the lt. side is tapped shut (as well as the door sw) and if it is OK, it will blink 1/2 sec. on and 1/2 sec. off normally. Behind the front toe kick grill there are 2 separate tech. sheets. One of them (tan colored one) is just for putting the board in a diagnostic mode to see if they need replaced. They are part # W11629974. They might have a loose connection also at their own power plugs. You should get 120vac on the rt. board blk/wht wire to the white wire (neutral). Thank You. Read More...
Phil November 09, 2011 for Model Number ED2FHAXSB04 My ice dispenser is not working. The water dispenser is working fine and the actual ice machine is making ice fine. This problem arose after a 2-day power failure, the only melting was some of the ice in the bin and it may have leaked down through the door, although I'm not sure. Any ideas what the problem could be?
1 Answer Hi Phil. Look from the outside chute area with a flashlight and see if the chute is working. Remove the ice bin enclosure and tape the door switch closed. Call For ice, is the dispenser auger motor turning? Look into the ice bin and see if the auger itself is frozen in the bottom of the bin. Dry it completely if it is. If the dispenser auger motor is not turning, then this part needs checked for 120 vac while asking for ice. If you are getting 120 vac, then the auger motor part # is W10822635. If your chute is not fully closing and allowing moist air to back up into the bin, it will freeze the auger assy. This chute kit part # is W10823377. Thank You. Read More...
Tom K. August 05, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool GC5SHEXNS03 Hi - Can someone help me identify where the spring for the Ice Chute door goes (Part #AP3595356)? I see it on the parts diagram, but it's not helpful. Any help is greatly appreciated. Tom
1 Answer Hi Tom.There is the ice door chute arm that holds the flapper closed onto the chute opening. The spring strattles this arm with both openings at the top. There is a metal pin that goes sideways into the spring and through the top of this arm. There is a ice door kit that will insure that you have proper operations of the chute flap. It has the instructions also. This part # is W10823377. Thank you. Read More...
Barbara July 08, 2011 for Model Number ed5kvexvq00 How do you take apart the door to access the dispenser door spring?
1 Answer Hello Barbara. You will need to remove the drip tray from the dispenser. Then start at the bottom corners of the front cover and unsnap the cover from the refrigerator. Once removed, you can access and replace the dispenser door spring WPW10224328. Be careful when unsnapping the cover not to break it. Hope this helps. Read More...
