The Gasket and Strike Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to ensure a tight and leak-proof seal around the dishwasher door. This kit includes a door gasket and a door strike, both crucial components in preventing water from leaking out during the wash cycle.

Causes of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit can include normal wear and tear from regular use, leading to a loss of elasticity in the gasket.

Symptoms of a bad Gasket and Strike Kit include:

  • Water leaking from around the dishwasher door.
  • Difficulty closing the dishwasher door or ensuring it stays latched during operation.
  • Visible signs of wear, such as cracks or hardening on the gasket, or bending or damage to the strike.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Hello Fred, These models have different model number, different configuration seals, and use different part number seals for the door. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Wayne, Unfortunately there is no adjustment that can be made to the door strike to allow it to pull the top of the door in further. You will want to check to make sure that this is not a vent issue in which the vent is not opening and allowing the moisture to escape through the vent..

Hello Brett, I'm sorry but the gasket is no longer offered individually by the manufacturer. The only way to get the gasket is W10542314.

Jason for Model Number DU1055XTVD0

My dishwasher just started leaking onto the floor today. If I run it with the outer door panel off, I can see the water flowing out of the latch mechanism area, down the inside of the door. The unit is 5 years old, with the original gasket. The gasket seems ok, but there does seem to be a small bit of play at the top of the door, when it is closed. Maybe it is just a bit flattened from usage? I've checked the hinges and spray arms, but have not found any issues. The float switch and water inlet test out ok as well. Is this simply a door gasket issue?

1 Answer

Jason, This issue does sound like it would be simply a failed door gasket that would need to be replaced.

Hello Diane. There is no lower door seal. You will need to check the outer door seal and see if it is bad on the unit.

A, There is no seal on the bottom of the door, there are other things that need to be checked. Make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions. Check the water level in the tub, start the dishwasher and let it fill and run for 5 minutes, open the door and check to see that the water in the bottom of the tub is within 1/4 inch of the heater element. Then check the lower spray arm for debris in the openings or a split seam along the edges, also check the spray arm hub and seal for excess wear or distortion. Any of the scenarios can cause water to be redirected and will "blow out" the bottom of the door and create a leak. If you do need to replace the door seal, then you will need to order the gasket and strike kit W10542314 it has been reconfigured to produce a tighter fit and seal around the tub opening.

Sandra, It is normal for the door to be stiff getting pushed in when replacing the door seal of the unit. It will take a little bit for it to break in.

Timery, I've found model DU1100XTPQ3 (XTPQ instead of XPQ). The door gasket is part number W10542314 and the lower gasket is only available with the inner door part number WP8269311. Thanks!
