This water level pressure switch senses air pressure from the tub and signals the control to stop filling at the correct level. Replacing a weak or failed switch restores proper filling, helps prevent over/underfilling, and allows cycles to advance.

  • Monitors tub water level via the pressure hose and sends the level signal to the control
  • Stops water flow at the target level so wash, rinse, and spin can begin
  • Common symptoms of a failing switch: continuous filling, overfilling or underfilling, cycle won't advance past fill/sensing, or stops with water still in the tub
  • A cracked, kinked, or blocked pressure hose can mimic switch failure—inspect during diagnosis
What's included: 1 water level pressure switch Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
  • Access the switch from the console/top or rear panel per your model; note wire orientation
  • Transfer and firmly seat the pressure hose; inspect it for kinks, cracks, or blockages and replace if damaged
  • After installation, run a fill test; some models may require a diagnostic calibration—see the tech sheet or user manual

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Level Pressure Switch (Part Number: OEM20943129)

1 Answer

Bill, Locate your tech sheet and run the machine through a diagnostics cycle to help determine the issue. Testing the pressure switch would be a continuity test. It should have continuity before being filled and no continuity once full.

Mahoney for Model Number 110.47512602 kenmore

We are getting an F20 code error and the fabric softener doesn't drain. It always happens with a full load and about the last 9 minutes of the cycle. It is pretty consistent with this. We have cleaned the drain pipe, cleaned screens, and water pressure from hoses. The dispenser motor appears to work during the cycles because it moves between the different numbers during the cycle. What is the likely problem? I don't want to replace parts that don't need replaced. Thanks,

1 Answer

Hello Mahoney, the F20 code refers to the washer running out of fill time since this occurs in the last 9 minutes of the cycle that would be the last rinse fill, which is all cold water fill and a higher water level than the wash fill. This usually means there is not enough cold water entering fast enough in the time allowed. Since you have checked the hoses that points to a restricted water flow in the cold water side of the inlet water valve, part WP8540751.

Hello Keith, you say no error codes, was this during the wash cycle or in the diagnostic test? To run the test and retrieve any codes ,with washer empty, close the door and press any keypad, except pause /cancel , hold in for 4 seconds /release 4 seconds do this 4x , washer will display any fault codes, press same key once for any additional codes, if no more codes washer will start an automatic test cycle,

Ron for Model Number kenmore het2 110-47561602

Keep getting an intermittent f-20 code. Have checked all the hoses , inlet screens, good water pressure, and cleaned drain valve, I hate to buy both the water valve and the pressure switch and would like to know how to check the water valve for correct water flow. I disconnected the water valve from the detergent dispenser and checked the water flow from the water valve. Went through all water temperature settings and the water flow appears to be slow. Are they any specs. to check what the amount of water flow is suppose to be? The solenoids appear to have the correct voltage. How can you check the pressure switch with an ohm meter to determine if it is good? According to the above issues, What part would you suggest for me to buy first?

1 Answer

Ron, If the water flow appears to be slow then this will most likely be an issue with the water valve on the unit.

Paul, We would need to have a model number for the unit to be able to assist with your question but sounds likely that there is an issue with a clog in the dispenser assembly that is causing water to run out.

Jim, Yes the pressure switch can play a factor in the unit not filling and throwing the F8 E1 error code and on the tech sheet there is a test for the pressure switch on page 7. If the pressure switch checks ok then the check the wiring of from the control board to the water valve and make sure that there is no damaged or broken wires. If this is ok then test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is then the water valve would be the issue and if there is not then the control board would be the issue.

Randy, The model number you supplied is incorrect or incomplete, however, the LF or FL error codes indicates a "Long Fill" or No Fill problem. Since you replaced the water level switch, check to make sure the connections are tight and proper. Disconnect the air tube from the switch and blow in the end of the tube, hard, This should clear any sediment or debris that make have deposited in the tube. Also disconnect the fill hoses from the faucets and the washer, check the debris screens in the valve inlet and remove any sediment from the screens, check and clear any debris from the screened washers in the fill hose ends, and flush the faucets, That way you have plenty of water supplied to the washer fill valve, and the air in the tube to the pressure switch can move freely up and down the tube.

Amanda, The SD would be a suds error would suggest checking the drain filter and make sure that it is not clogged. If this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty main control board.
