1 Answer

Bob, The high limit will only sit on the housing one way and the most important thing is making sure that the wiring is correct.

John, We would need to have the model number to properly assist but it sounds like you may have a blown thermal fuse which is located on the blower housing. This would be the most likely cause for the unit to not work.

Dlhord for Model Number WED9600TW0

Whirlpool Duet Steam Dryer is running but not heating. Model # WED9600TW0 1. Ran diagnostic tests 2. Receiving L2 “Low Line Voltage and F22 “Outlet Thermistor Open” 3. No breakers tripped, 240 measured at outlet, 240 at power cord connection 4. Ordered and replaced Dryer thermister after completing test 5. Still getting L2 and F31 6. Ordered and replaced Machine Control Electronics board after completing test 7. Still getting L2 and F31 8. Determined no continuity for the Thermal Cut-Off 9. Slammed on floor as shown on video and after second try getting continuity from the Thermal Cut-Off 10. No more L2 or F31 and dryer is heating once again 11. Dryer running and heating for short time 1 to 2 minutes then stops with flashing F22 12. Tested on different setting and same issue with F22 13. Watched Heater Element heat up go off and heat up again and at that point is when dryer stops and flashing F22 appears. 14. Went ahead and ordered the whirlpool-thermal-cut-off-kit 279973-ap3094323. Replaced both parts and tested again. Tested and still getting F22 as stated above (see #11,12, and 13). Need help with next steps needed. Thanks you in advance for your assistance.

Hello Dlhord. If the thermistor is new, you will need to check the wiring harness on the unit.

Hello Dan. It is a venting issue. Double check the vent and also the blower wheel on the unit.

Shannon for Model Number GEW9250PW0

I have replaced the heater element because it was bad. It worked for about week then it quite heating clothes again. I checked it for continuity and its still good. I went ahead and checked the everything and the thermistor had no continuity so replacing that. I also checked high limit thermostat and that was good, but when I checked the thermal cut off fuse it had no continuity, so would that be the other problem? The dryer was heating and so I switched it over to time dry to take the cold out off the clothes and it didn't heat. I also set it back to heavy duty dry and still no heat. any recommendations would be great :)

Hello Shannon. The thermistor should show resistance, not continuity. The thermal cut off should read closed. If open, it is the reason for the no heat issue.

Bob, It sounds like you may have an issue with a stuck relay on the control board. Disconnect the power from the unit and check the relay on the control board that has the red and black to it. Test it for continuity. Most likely the relay will show closed showing that the contacts are stuck and the control board would need to be replaced.
