1 Answer Dale, The thermal fuse in located on the heater element housing. You need to unplug the power cord or remove power to the dryer, Remove the two hex-head screws from the bottom flange of the toe panel. Pull the panel out at the bottom, pull down, and remove the panel. You will now have access to the housing and the fuse. There are no specialty tools needed, other than 1/4 in sockets and wrench or nut drivers, Thanks and Good Luck Read More...

Daniel January 28, 2012 for Model Number gew9260pw0 Clothes in the dryer are coming out extremely hot even on low heat setting. Clothes are also wrinkling. Is the hi-limit switch bad? Thanks.
1 Answer Hi Daniel. Yes the hi-limit is bad part # WP3391914, along with the heater needs to be checked to see if it is not shorted against the chassis allowing it to overheat. Heater part # WP3387747. The Dryer thermistor needs to be ohmed out to see at room temperature (77°) it is 10,000 ohms. It senses the temperature to the main control board. It is part # WP8577274. Clean your vent entirely and make sure the outside vent cap is operating correctly not allowing the outside moisture not to get back in. Thank You. Read More...
Leonard October 11, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool Duet Dryer 3 years only The dryer running around 10-20 min. the main fuse for heat on the main fuse box was jumped. Its being happened for a period of time. I measure the cable the amp. read as 5.6 amp/ and its hot too. So, I believe the thermal control is out of order. and I removed both of the thermal cut off and thermal sensor, the resistant measure by meter only 0.2 to 0.4 ohm respectively. Will your technical person can offer me a advise. I going to purchase those parts too. The parts number are 8318314 and 3391914. Thanks
1 Answer Leonard, Did you check the heating element resistance (7.5 to 12 O ) to see if it has damage ? Based on your information, the thermal fuse and cut out are OK. You also need to check the breakers in the breaker box, they should be rated at 30 amps 240 VAC. The 5.6 amps it draws at present, should not be causing the breaker to get hot and trip open, unless theres an issue with the wiring or breaker. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...

1 Answer Hello Perry. You will need to check the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the door switch WPW10318609. They should read closed for continuity with the door closed on the door switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Marco July 20, 2011 for Model Number GEW9250PWO Dryer will turn on and start beeping asap. Cloths are still damp form washer. Should I play it safe and 3 parts 1) thermistor, 2) thermostat, 3) thermal fuse. Please let me know asap. Thank you. Marco.
1 Answer Hi Marco. Is your dryer giving just the audible beep or is it giving a fault code? You are really having a vent issue resulting in other symptoms. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. The thermistor will act as a cycling thermostat in by telling the main control board cut in and cut out temps.Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms This part # is WP8577274. 2).= The thermal fuse will open and stop all heat. This part # is WP8577274.The thermostat part # is 279973. Also use a kitchen scrubber pad on the sensor 2-side by side bars to remove the fabric softener sheet build up. this will stop sensor readings to the sensor dry control board. Thank you. Read More...
