Biire2u January 06, 2014 for Model Number LE5700XPW0 My whirlpool dryer won't start at all. No noise or hum of any kind. I measured 240V at the terminals so the circuit is good. I can hear the timer button when I turn it on to a cycle. I checked the dryer vent and it appears clean and no obstructions around heating coils neither. Could a bad thermostat prevent dryer from even starting? If not, what else should I look for? Thanks a bunch, your videos are great
1 Answer Hello biire2u. You need to test the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the door switch W10820036. Either will prevent the unit from running. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Sean G. July 29, 2012 for Model Number LE7680XSWO My dryer runs but doesnt heat. The element checks out ok. All limit switches read good. How do I test the thermostats and any other things I should check?
1 Answer Hello Sean, Sounds like the thermal cutout 279769 has probably opened. If this is the case, there are two things you need to be sure to do. First and most important, check the exhaust duct. The reason is simply because the thermal cutout is opened by temperature. The majority of the thermal cutout failures are attributed to the exhaust being crimped, clogged, or excessively long. You see, if the exhaust has too much back pressure, it blows past the felt drum seals and re-enters the cabinet, where the room temperature air is normally circulated through the unit. When the hot, moist air is re-circulated through the unit, it allows the thermal fuse is located and it is opened. This can be rectified by correction of the exhaust. The other thing you have to do is install the COMPLETE kit. The reason for this is the thermal fuse should open before the high limit thermostat does. The high limit thermostat is self resettable and this should prevent the thermal cutout from opening. In light of this, the high limit could not have operated properly and requires replacement. This is why the two components come in the kit together. Post an e-mail address and I can provide you with some illustrated instructions that will provide you all of the information on component location and access in addition to testing procedures. Warren July 22, 2012 for Model Number le7680xsw2 I changed the heater coil on my dryer it still blows cold air it doesnt heat up but the dryer. Still goes on like normal just not heating coil. What do I need to chek to see if it burned out so I can get it working?
1 Answer Hello Warren. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Thomas April 28, 2011 for Model Number el4030vwo Should there be a short between the two leads when checking this thermostat?
1 Answer Hello Thomas. To check this thermostat, you will need to test it for ohms. It should read between 5600-8400 ohms depending on the temperature of the dryer. If it is within this range, it is good. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
