Ellen August 28, 2018 my whirlpool dryer The timer wont push in or pull out. the plastic knob just comes off when I pull it. do I need a new timer ? Its model number is 3406701 now wp3976580 that's the timer part number. thank you
1 Answer Ellen, this timer you have referenced is not designed to pull the knob out to start it. It should have a separate push to start switch. If this is not like your timer, I will need a complete model number to see what you are referring to . Read More...
Maretta March 31, 2016 for Model Number LER7646EQ1 The start button does not start when pushed. Can hear it click when pushed. New start part was installed, but the start button still did not work. Repair man checked all parts and fuse. HE was befuddled at this point. He said he checked with someone and that it was the timer. I set the timer for 10 minutes and it advanced to off. Could this still be the timer?
1 Answer Hello Maretta. You will need to make sure the door switch and thermal fuse is good. If so, then it is either the motor or the timer on the unit. Read More...
Maretta C March 31, 2016 for Model Number LER7646EQ1 My dryer will not start when I push the button. Repair man replaced the part, but the dryer still did start when the button was pushed. He said it was the timer. The timer when set for time does advance to off. So could it still be the timer.
1 Answer Maretta, You will want to test the door switch for continuity with the door closed and make sure that it is not broken. Also check the thermal fuse on the blower housing for continuity. If no continuity then it would be faulty. If these things checks ok then the issue will be with the motor. Read More...
Em January 27, 2016 for Model Number LGR7646EQO dryer The dryer only works when set at 20 minutes or less. Is it the timer?
1 Answer Em, Yes this issue will most likely be a timer issue which is part number WP3976580. Read More...
Dave August 04, 2015 for Model Number LER5644EQ0 My dryer stopped working. It will run when the timer is set on cooldown after timed dry, and advances normally to off. Does not work on timed dry, and the timer does not click (advance) I get heat when on the cooldown setting. It also works on fluff air and in the Auto Dri-miser in the less dry range but not the very dry range. Thanks much, Dave
1 Answer Hello Dave, Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WP3976580 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Aaron January 04, 2014 for Model Number 3976580 I have a Whirlpool Dryer (model LER7646EQ2) front loader that is about 14 years old. Everything on the dryer is working well except the timer knob. The timer is fully functional around all the cycles EXCEPT the timer will get stuck on the last 20 minutes of the Timed Drying cycle. Therefore it keeps running and has to be turned off manually. The other cycles seem to turn off correctly. The heat seems to work fine as well. Before knowing what parts I need to look at replacing, I wanted to see if anyone can help access the problem. Other than my tool kit, I don't have any other parts, meters, but can buy if needed to assess the problem. The heat seems fine on the dryer. I haven't checked the back of the dryer vent from the wall, but the lint filter is cleaned out every cycle.
1 Answer Hello Aaron. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Annette W July 02, 2013 for Model Number LER7646EQ2 Heating element will not heat up, tried everything except changing the timer dial. What wire can we test coming out of the back of the dial and what position would the dial need to be on to see if the dial is good. What kind of reading should we get?
1 Answer Hello Annette. You will test the red wire from the timer for 120 volts. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Frank July 21, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool LGR7646EQO The automatic cycle timer doesn't advance. (Tried it with vent off, still dosen't advance.) Timed cycle advances. No heat in the dryer on any cycle.
1 Answer Frank, On this style dryer, if the timer advances in the timed dry selection, there's a 99% chance the timer is not the issue. If the timer won't advance in the auto dry selection, there's a 99% chance, it is due to a heat issue. You'll need to remove the 1X1 in. plasticcover on the front pnel, start the dryer on any heat cycle and observe the ignition procedure through the opening under the inspection hole cover. When you sttart the dryer, the igniter should glow for 30 to 60 seconds, you should hear a slight click and the igniter should start to fayed and the gas released should ignite. No glow from the igniter would indicate a broken igniter 279311 , faulty sensor WP338906 or open thermostat W11050897 WP3387134 . If the igniter cycles on and off, but there's no flame, then the issue would be a gas supply issue or most likely weak or inop coil assembly 279834 . Thanks Read More...
Cassie April 24, 2012 for Model Number LER7646EQ1 Ordered and recieved new timer, connected wires but dryer seems to run but not hot. Was looking at wiring diagram and it seems to indicate open and closed circuits for wiring. Need help for this part.
1 Answer Hello Cassie. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jad April 09, 2012 for Model Number LER7646EQ1 Just replaced Thermal cutoff kit because it ran but did not heat. Worked great for a couple of days until today. I hear the timer clicking but does not run when start button is depressed. I tested the Timer motor and get a reading around 2.37 on the meter. I've been a customer for a while and I look forward to your response. Thanks JD
1 Answer Jad, If you're reading 2.37 ohms across the wiries to the timer motor, it's OK. At this point, you'd want to test the door switch WP3406107 for a "closed" circuit, white to blue with the plunger depressed, and then the test thermal fuse WP3392519 located on the blower housing for a "closed" circuit, with the wires off as well. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
