For Whirlpool Outer Tub Assembly (Part Number: OEM15920457)

Chris for Model Number MVWB400VQ0

Does the outer tub come preassembled with bearings seal AND new shaft? Have removed basket and original shaft and bearings. Sounds like my SS basket has liguid trapped in the top and bottom plastic end rings. Is this normal? If not, can I drill a small hole in each end to drain and reseal with epoxy? Assume I would need to submerse each end in a tub to determine how liquid is getting in and reseal. The outer tub support rods springs and cups are all in tact. Should they be replaced at this time? Thanks

Hello Chris, The outer tub dos come with the bearings, shaft, and seal preinstalled by the manufacturer. The water you hear in the tub assembly is a saline solution for balance. If you drill a hole and let it out, the unit will never be able to find a balanced configuration and will never achieve a full speed spin. The support rods should not be replaced unless there is an issue with them.

Bob, With a loud grinding/roaring type noise during the spin, the issue would be the bearings and you would want to replace the outer tub part number W10193886.

Hello Brandon, This sounds more like the motor stator WPW10419333 has dropped a winding. You can tell by turning the tub by hand. If it spins freely by hand, there is not a bearing issue.

Hello Dan. On your model you do not have to replace the outer tub. Just the bearings and tool are needed. You need to order part numbers W10435302 and W10447783 to repair the unit.

Quinn, You will want to check the suspension rods to make sure that there is no damage to them and that they are properly in place. Also check to make sure that the stator on the bottom of the tub is not broken or has piece missing from it. The other thing would be checking the inner tub to make sure that when you take it out there is a water type sound in it. If not then the inner tub would need to be replaced as the liquid inside is a saline solution to help balancing.

Hello Bill. Yes, the whole tub is better and easier to replace than doing the bearings.
