Symptoms of a bad dual water inlet valve include:

  • No water flow to the ice maker or water dispenser
  • Slow filling or low water pressure in the dispenser
  • Leaking water around the valve area
  • Ice maker not producing ice

Hello Stephen. If the water valve had a slow leak and was causing the fill tube to freeze up and clog, then the new water valve will fix the issue with the unit.

Aaron G for Model Number KBFS25EVMS00

The (interior) water dispenser on my refrigerator started having a very slow drip about a week ago. Hardly noticeable until overnight when there is a small puddle on the floor in front of the frig on the side where the dispenser is. I can put a towel under the dispenser nozzle and come back a few hours later and find it is wet. I suspect either the filter is bad or the fill inlet valve. Filter was last replaced in mid-December 2012. But from what I have read on the internet, seems I should be having much bigger problems if the fill inlet valve is broken. Right now I've taken out the filter and am using the filter bypass plug and am seeing if I still get a drip. Am I on the right track? Also, I've noticed the filter is supposed to be changed every 6 months, but the change filter light on the refrigerator only comes on every 12 months. What's up with that?

Aaron, This will most likely be caused by a seeping water valve on the unit and the water valve would need to be replaced.

Hello Henry, This sounds like there may be air in your plumbing. This will cause erratic pressure effects in the water dispense system since liquid cannot be compressed and a "gas" (air) can be compressed. It's kind of like putting a spring in the water system to propel the water out when the valve is opened since the air in the system builds excessive pressure. Of course the way to tell is that the air, as it comes out of the dispense tube, will cause the water being dispensed to "sputter" and it is obvious that air is coming out with the water. Otherwise, this would have to be caused by varying water pressure applied to the unit from the home plumbing since the system on the unit only opens a valve and the pressure applied is allowed to pass through. In other words, the refrigerator does not have any component on it to "push" the water. The water comes out by the home plumbing water pressure pushing it through the machine. The unit itself has no way to regulate the water pressure. This is done by the city water system at the meter by the street or, in the case of a well, the water tank will have a pressure regulator on it.

Haden, The water tank/reservoir R0131625 is located on the lower back wall of the refrigerator compartment. You will need to remove the crisper drawers and lower shelves to access, and check it. If it is slushy or frozen, check and make sure, the freezer temperature in not below 0 dgrs.F. (prefer 3-5 dgrs,) and the articles on the shelves are not blocking the air flow, and holding the air in the lower area of the fridge. Thanks

Hello JT. The valve WP67006531 is easy to replace and does use compression fittings. to release the line, just press down on the fittings and then pull out the water lines. Make sure you have the water turned off before servicing and then turn back on after servicing.

Gary for Model Number MSD2652KES

My ice maker stopped making ice a few months ago. In that time it has started to make ice for one or two cycles only. This has happened 2 or 3 times over the last few months. At the same time, the water dispenser has been working, but it sporadicly starts to make a clicking sound and then the water stops dispensing. It sounds like the sound is coming from the area near the water filter. I have replaced the water filter twice already, it still happens. I checked all supply tubes behind the refrigerator, and pressure from water line is fine. The dual water valve is so expensive, I want to make sure this is what I need to replace to fix the two problems. Help.

Hi Gary. There is a adaptive defrost control board part # W11227239 beside the filter to the left. It is in on the lt. side of the controls in front of the damper area. Remove the control knobs and remove the side cover screws. The clicking sound is from the board relay going bad. Make sure the interior bulbs part # 8009 are all good in both cavities. Thank You.

Hello Michelle. If the fill tube is clear, and there is power going to the valve during harvest mode, you will need to replace the water valve WP67006531.
