Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dual Water Inlet Valve (Part Number: OEM18031554)

George, Sorry but No. The "O" rings are not available as a separate component. This valve has "compression" fittings and are internally set and sealed. You will need to replace the valve WP67006531 and check to make sure the tubes are cut straight, they have no burrs, and are properly seated and locked in place in the "collars" of the valve. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Stephen. The unit can be used without a water filter, but you will need to use a bypass W11395888 in place of the filter.

Hi Bob. Pull the unit out. Use a bucket. Put the house water supply to the water valve hose in it and make sure it has a very strong, steady stream. Make sure it does not get kinked when pushing it back in. Make sure the water valve connections are tight. I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. Open the fresh food door and use a putty knife to gently release the door switch, remove power and jump these wires (bypassing) them. See if it works now. If so then replace the door switch part . If not then remove power and look at the fresh food inner water control. Remove the cap/cover and carefully look at the micro switch part # WP12575501 electrical connector pins. If they are burnt open, bypass them(jumper) and make sure the wire connections are tight. Use the wiring diagram supplied with the unit in the control panel or the kick plate. Make sure no cubes are stuck sideways stopping the ejector blades from rotating and calling for water (for the ice maker). Call for water . If there is no- water coming out of the waterline then back up into the water tank -or- coils of water line tubing behind the crisper drawers. Are they frozen ? Make sure that both sides are at regular temperatures and no colder. Freezer 0-2°. Fresh food from mid point temperatures. Look carefully at the water filter. Remove it by dropping the filter slightly enough to grasp it and rotate it to the lt a quarter turn. Re install the filter fully by rotating it to the right. Call for water and purge the air from the water lines. Only call for water no longer then 5-6 seconds at a time until all air is purged. Also make sure the water line supplying the ice maker is not frozen along with the fill tube. Remove the ice maker and use a screwdriver to check the fill tube and see if it is frozen. You can remove the fill tube and clear it and dry it completely. Reinstall it by turning it to the lt. slightly and pulling it out. Make sure that it is placed fully seated in the back of the cabinet so warm air does not collect moisture there and freeze it again. Let us know how to assist. further. Thank You.

Hello William. Based on the information you provided it sounds like the filter head WP67006524 is bad and will need to be replaced. Make sure when the filet is installed, you run about 3 gallons of water through it. If it still leaks, replace the filter head in the unit. Hope this helps.

Fb for Model Number MFD2561HEW Icemaker

I have removed the icemaker and ordered a new unit from your organization. I cannot fully shut off the water due to calcium deposits in the cut off valve. I thought removal of the unit would shut the water flow off to the icemaker, but I am getting a very slow trickle. The icemaker has calcium buildup and looks like it needed replacement. Could the faulty valve had caused ice buildup in the filler tube that resulted in an external leek (at the input line and filler tube interface) behind the unit?

FB, sounds lile you have two(2) issues. A faulty shut off valve in the plumbing, and probably an issue with the fill valve. If you have a low enough water pressure, or calcium built up on the fill valve diaphram, the water could continue to drip into the water supply system and cause the fill tube to freeze and ice over. You really need to consider repalcing the fill valve as well, as the icemaker [67005154] or [67006531], depending on the series/serial number. Good Luck and Thanks

Hello Dave. The water valve WP67006531 is located on the back of the unit. You will remove the metal cover and turn off the water. Then, press in on the fittings on the valve and pull the water lines out of the old water valve. Then press the water lines into the new valve until they bottom out. Reinstall the valve and check for leaks. Hope this helps.
