The Water Inlet Valve is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. The water inlet valve is responsible for regulating the flow of water into the dishwasher. It is connected to the main water supply and opens and closes as needed to allow water to enter the appliance at the appropriate time and in the correct quantity.

Causes of a bad Water Inlet Valve can include mineral deposits that clog the valve, a failure in the valve's solenoid, or wear and tear over time that affects the valve's ability to open and close properly.

Symptoms of a bad Water Inlet Valve include:

  • Dishwasher not filling with water
  • Water filling too slowly or too quickly
  • Water leaking from the dishwasher
  • Unusual noises during the fill cycle

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Note: The white plug connector can be disconnected to allow for connection of the dishwasher wiring if needed.

GeoC, the valve WPW10327249 would need to be tested for 120VAC during a refill cycle. If there is voltage and the valve did not allow water through, the valve has failed. If there is not 120VAC, the float would need to be inspected to identify if it is getting stuck in the upward position. If it is not stuck in an upward position, the main control WPW10380685 would be the most likely cause of failure.

Steve, Thanks for the question and based on the description it could be the valve but it also could be the water pressure, I would check the pressure first.

Sam, The unit will start off with a short drain before it fills and starts washing. If it is going straight to drain after filling then this will most likely be an issue with the control board.

Tracey, it is possible that the lower wash arm W11553338 is clogged up and this can be checked. Another check that can be done is checking to ensure there is not a clog in the sump that could be preventing water flow through the circulation pump W10902589. If there is a clog in the sump, or an item preventing the impeller W10783130 from rotating properly, it would need to be cleared and the appliance tested. If there are no clogs and the impeller is not damaged, it is likely that the circulation motor has failed if it is receiving 120VAC from the main control W11341628.

Hello Alan, If there are no harness issues, the control W10479763 will have to be the issue since the fill circuit is made up of the water valve, the control, and the wiring harness.

Hello James, the water valve is working correctly if it opens to allow fill and closes with no leak, this however sounds like a plumbing problem, specifically, water hammer, which has various causes, high water pressure, loose water pipe mountings in-wall/floor, if that is the case there are water hammer arrestors of various types available in the plumbing aisle of home improvement stores.

Curtis for Model Number KUDS30IXSSA

I have a dishwasher that seems to be not cleaning the top rack of dishes. The bottom rack is cleaning and the soap seems to be dissolved and used. I noticed that the water manifold probe was broke and the water supply tube had a piece missing. I ordered those parts and replaced them. I ran the dishwasher a few times after doing this and top rack dishes are still not getting cleaned. What do you think it might be? I seem to be getting water coming in so it is filling. Could you please give me some ideas or other things to check? Thank you

Curtis, if there is not a crack in the water tower housing going up to the middle and upper spray arms, the next step would be to inspect the impeller assembly 8193951A to identify if there is a loose, broken, or a congested section.
