Well, I got online and found several YouTube videos on how to check what was happening. I have a multimeter and tools. I first replaced the external water filter just to make sure it wasn't that, and it needed it. That wasn't the problem. I then removed the water inlet valve which was really easy. I didn't disconnect the water lines but I did unplug the power plug. Using the ohms setting on the meter, I tested the coil of the valve solenoid. It wasn't open. I checked the voltage at the plug... My problem first showed up as varying temperature in both sections of my old mid 1970’s Frigidaire model FPCI-170T-7 refrigerator, which is not listed on most appliance repair databases. Running on the warm side from time to time, as well as sudden fan noise (probably the fan blade hitting ice build-up on the evaporator coil) alerted me to a possible defrost system problem, since the compressor was cooling. The evaporator fan eventually failed after a day or so, and a major repair was... Read more

Before we replaced the board, my wife tried to replace just the element. We had one we had ordered several years ago when this same thing happened. When that didn't work we replaced the board and could see where the old board was damaged so we figured this was the solution. It would have been except the bottom element my wife used to replace the old element (which was fine but had been thrown out figuring the new one was new so why keep the old one) was 1" shorter in the back than the old... Symptoms of a bad Evaporator Fan Blade include:
1. After hearing a loud noise on the freezer side of unit about halfway up, I started investigating what it could be? My conclusion was evaporator motor or evaporator fan blade. One of the signs of this issue was a distinct change in sound when I opened the freezer door. I ordered a new motor and blade, not knowing exactly what it was. 2. I couldn't get water to dispense, so I changed the filter and that wasn't the problem. I ordered a water valve and crossed my fingers. These parts arrived... Read more

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.
After about three months of returning to my youth, filling ice cube trays, I decided to venture into the freezer and yank the old ice maker from its mounting. Since this was the third time this very ice maker had decided to stop functioning, it was time to get a replacement. I suspected the heating element was open and the motor was screaming trying to push the little frozen blocks of ice from their form, with distortion occurring. I ordered a replacement from this very company, received it... Read more

Symptoms of a bad dispenser switch:
Causes of a bad dispenser switch can include mechanical wear and tear, electrical malfunctions, or physical damage due to mishandling or impact.
I had the original sensors in my Frigidaire, which were now about 18 years old. The water dispenser would work, but I would have to push in the lever and then draw it back until it found that "sweet spot." I finally got annoyed enough with the problem that I looked online. I almost purchased the dispenser actuator (the paddle), and glad I didn't because it was not the problem. Unless your lights are out, or it broke, the culprit will be these little dispenser switches which get pressed... Read more
