Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits. I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have. I looked up my dryer, decided what was probably the problem,... Read more
The Rear Drum Support Shaft is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers, specifically designed to ensure the stability and smooth rotation of the dryer drum. This component plays a pivotal role in the dryer's operation by supporting the rear of the drum, allowing it to turn evenly and quietly during cycles. Note: The rear drum bearing kit is 5303281153.
The causes behind these issues often stem from normal wear and tear, excessive loads that strain the dryer's components, or lack of regular maintenance. Over time, the support shaft can wear down, become loose, or even corrode, leading to operational inefficiencies and potential damage to the dryer.
Symptoms of a failing Rear Drum Support Shaft include:
This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.
The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Just believe the older models are worth fixing, if at all possible. Frist we had to figure out what parts we would need and if the cost would be worth our time. I went on YouTube: and type in Kenmore dryer not turning on. Watched several videos to narrow down the possible problem. Next step was to... Read more

I'm new to how a dryer works, so I just started taking it apart to see what exactly was causing it. The video examples on the APP website were all amazing. It gave me a good idea of what I was getting into and showed me the common repair issues. The dryer being 12 years old, I was on the fence about repairing or replacing. However, once I got a list of parts I might need and getting the confidence by watching the videos, I said "what have I got to lose." The cause of the scraping and loud... Read more
The Dryer Seal is an OEM replacment part for Frigidaire dryers. It is located at the doorway opening where the drum rotates and helps prevent lint, moisture, and heat from escaping. The seal is a crucial component that ensures efficient drying and heat retention within the dryer drum.

Symptoms of a bad seal include:
This OEM Frigidaire replacement part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.
Get some acetone at a Hardware Store before you start. A pint will do. Unplug the dryer from 110 VAC. Pull the top off of the dryer, by lifting it from the front first. It is attached with snap metal fittings. Do not completely remove the top, just tip upright to gain access to the front interior of the dryer. Before you pull any wires from the door switch, record which color wires go to which terminals on the door switch. If you reassemble the connections incorrectly, the gas value will... Read more

The Upper Felt Seal is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. This felt seal is located at the top edge of the dryer drum and is designed to create a tight seal between the drum and the dryer cabinet. This helps prevent clothes from getting caught in the gap and ensures efficient drying by maintaining proper airflow within the drum. For High Temp adhesive order part number: [AP2153130].
Causes of a bad upper felt seal can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, friction and heat exposure over time, and damage from foreign objects inadvertently caught in the dryer. A compromised seal can lead to inefficient drying, increased wear on clothes, and potential damage to the drum.
Symptoms of a bad upper felt seal include:
My 12 year old Frigidaire stack on top dryer had been beeping distress messages in some unintelligible code for about a year when it completely stopped producing heat. It also had a long standing issue with delicate fabrics and thin straps or drawstrings getting caught in the drum. After using this site to troubleshoot and viewing the useful how-to videos, I ordered and replaced the heating element, thermal limiter, and felt seals. Based on others' stories, I decided to also replace the rear... Read more

The Limiter is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire dryers. Also called a high-limit thermostat, it prevents the dryer from overheating in the event of an obstruction or blockage. The limiter monitors air temperature and airflow inside the dryer drum.
Symptoms of a bad limiter include:
Causes of a bad limiter can be normal wear and tear over time, failure of internal components, or exposure to overheating conditions from blockages or items not suitable for machine drying.
I actually found a post from another brave soul who was willing to try to fix his, and had stated when he put the new limiter switch in, it fixed the problem. Since the whole back of the dryer needs to come off to get to the burner, and the limiter switch is inexpensive it seemed like common sense to take this approach first. After all, you don't put a new engine in your car if all it needs is a new battery! I also found posts that an overheating event could fry the main control board, and... Read more
The High Temp Lubricant Tube is an OEM part for Frigidaire appliances, specifically designed to withstand and operate under high temperature conditions. The Door Strike is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. It is a small, essential component that ensures the dryer door remains securely closed during operation. The door strike engages with the door catch to keep the door latched, allowing the dryer to operate efficiently and safely. Without a functioning door strike, the dryer may not start, or it could stop mid-cycle.
You should replace this door strike if it becomes damaged or worn out. Over time, the door strike can suffer from wear due to regular use, misalignment, or accidental impact, leading to issues with the dryer door latching properly.
Symptoms of a bad door strike include:
My dryer door would not stay shut because the door strike was stuck in the door catch. I was afraid that when I pulled the strike out, it would damage the catch, so I ordered the door strike and door catch. I got the damaged door strike out with needle nosed pliers in about 15 seconds. The door catch was in perfect condition so I didn't need to use the one I ordered. So then I proceeded to install the new door strike. That took me about 15 minutes because I did not have the manual strength to... Read more
The Door Switch is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. This part ensures that the dryer operates safely by only allowing the machine to run when the door is completely closed. Positioned typically at the door frame, the switch activates when the door is shut, signaling the control system that it's safe to begin the cycle.
Over time, door switches can wear out or become damaged, which can interfere with the normal operation of the dryer.
Symptoms of a faulty Door Switch include:
By reading the forums I first thought it may be the thermostat. I bypassed the thermostat wiring and the dryer still turned off after a few second of running. The second check was for the door switch. I couldn't find an explanation of how to bypass, so I just ordered a new one to try. It worked. Read more
