The timer knob skirt is the decorative ring around your dryer's timer control. Replace if cracked, broken, or stripped, preventing proper cycle selection.

Saw a video on line. Looked fairly easy to replace, but there were quite a few steps. I followed the video step for step and had the motor out in less than an hour. Our Maytag gas clothes dryer was not drying like it should/used to and was making a lot of noise. After researching online I figured the vent was partially blocked and/or the blower wheel was bad. When I took it apart, the vent had very little lint in the lower elbow exiting the back of the dryer but the blower wheel was loose on the shaft and was missing the clamp. I just wanted to put my experience here for all to see. I have a Maytag Neptune, MAH5500BWW, one of the original ones. I bought it back in 2002 and it has done many many loads of wash faithfully.
