Washer won't spin or agitate? A faulty direct drive motor often causes spinning failure and burning smells. Moderate DIY repair in under 2 hours.
All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). I began with the first two since they were inexpensive compared to the motor, which was the third cause (and also the least often cause). There is no way to visibly tell if the motor is bad or not. After replacing the clutch assembly, which did have some plastic pins broken off) and the motor coupling (which actually looked fine, but the... Read more
Washer won't agitate or makes clunking noise? This thrust washer reduces friction in the transmission system. Easy DIY repair with video guide.
Pulled the washer apart (using your videos as a refresher) and found that the plastic coupling between the motor and the transmission had failed. Searched for parts vendors and found your site. Ordered the coupling on-line and went back down to clean up the machine. In the cleaning process I found a damaged thrust washer for the upper agitator and broken drive dogs for that same agitator. I went to the website to see if I could augment my initial order. I did not want to pay shipping costs... Read more
Suspension pad kit absorbs vibration and reduces movement in your washer tub. Replace worn, cracked, or missing pads to restore stability during operation.
First went through the troubleshooting guide on the website and read the various stories and watched the repair videos for replacing the springs and suspension pads. Then before ordering any parts disassembled the machine only to the point of removing the cabinet to see if there were any obvious issues. The springs appeared OK but I couldn't tell of they were fatigued or not and all were in place but the tub suspension pads were definitely worn out. I then put the machine back together and went... Prevents water leaks around the transmission shaft in your washer. Replace if you notice water on the floor or oil seepage. Confirm fit with your model.
In reality, this turned into a full-on rebuild project - with several parts orders, not just a simple repair. But I have to give credit: The parts listings with pictures on the AppliancePartsPros web site were really useful in figuring out what was going on inside the machine, and what parts I would need. Also: The repair videos were critical for me to be able to ensure I was reassembling everything correctly. Shout out to Simon, who was featured in several of the repair videos. His "gorgeous... Noisy spin cycle or loose tub? This spanner nut secures the washer tub to the drive shaft. Requires spanner wrench for installation. DIY-friendly.
First off I have to say that Appliance Parts Pro's saved me from hiring a repair person, and quite possibly just getting rid of my washing machine. Their video's helped out SOOOOOOOO much and the advice one of their agents gave me over their online chat helped me trouble shoot something when I got stuck. On top of this they shipped my parts fast enough that less than 12 hrs later they arrived, which allowed me to get my machine up and running way faster than the other options I had available.... Washer won't spin or makes grinding noise during spin cycle? The basket drive rotates the wash basket. Moderate DIY repair with video guidance available.
I ordered what I thought were the necessary parts from appliancepartspro.com as my washing machine wouldn't spin. I should have watched there videos before I began as I took the whole cabinet off and everything and after receiving the parts and watching their video realized I didn't need to do so, at that point in time. When I put the pieces back together I found that the tub was really stuck, it would move but for the most part it was hard to move and creating a horrible noise. I knew I... Read more

Stabilizes your washer on uneven floors. Replace if spring is broken, stretched, or missing. Connects leveling links to keep machine level and balanced.
This was the second attempt at fixing this problem. The first repair and parts were generated by listing the problem and reviewing the potential corrections, listed on the web site. From making repairs on other clothes washers, I was confident that some of those potential causes could have been the cause. Unfortunately the counterbalance spring and suspension springs were not the cause as they were attached as intended and in good condition. I reached out for Appliance Parts Pros input... Read more
Secures control knobs to the panel on washers and dryers. Replace if the clip is broken, missing, or worn, causing knobs to fall off or sit loose.
I purchased the lid latch assembly and the lid switch strike. Following the clear video instructions for each part, my handy teenage son was able to remove the lid latch assembly and replace it with the new part as well as the lid switch strike. The washer is back to working perfectly for under $100. Appliance Parts Pros carry the parts to repair and at a lower cost than other online retailers. I saved about $30 compared to the other online site and I saved a service call fee. I'm so glad I... Read more
Seals the agitator cap to prevent water leaks into the agitator assembly. Replace if you notice leaking during wash cycles. Verify fit with your model.
I had previously replaced the pump about 1 year ago. That was not the problem. Still leaked the same way - intermittently, but always in the center of the washer onto the floor. None of the hoses were leaking - no evidence of corrosion or water mineral residue at any of the hose fittings. So, it must have been something else. I studied the parts diagram for the washer tub assembly and concluded the source of the leak almost had to be the outer tub's Centerpost Gasket. It was really the... Read more

Secures suspension springs at the washer base to absorb vibrations. Replace if cracked, worn, or broken to restore proper drum stabilization.
I started with the suspension pad kit and the tub suspension pads. I do have to say if you have an older model washer (mine is approx 17 years old) be prepared to let the inner tub sit in penetrating oil for a few days before attempting to take the tub out. I was able to get to this point on my own and then it wouldn't budge. My husband ended up buying some direct drive tool (it was pretty cool) and was able to break the tub free after two days. Yay! From there he took the the inner tub and put... Read more
