Ice cube dispenser/flap was broken not actuating the ice bucket motor. Peter P. • Sonoma , CA • July 24, 2023
Ice Door Kit, Control Bracket, and Ice Dispenser Guide were purchased. I followed two videos on replacing the parts. The Control Bracket WP2180226 / AP6005965, was straight forward and I discovered a snapped pin on the old bracket causing an electric switch to be out of place... that repair was easy.
When it came to the hinges of the ice chute, I discovered the snap-in, on right side, of the hinge was cracked... this is why the pin escaped. This cracked part is molded into the entire...

Water dispenser stopped working. Mark S. • Eliot , ME • January 13, 2021
I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel. It took a little effort but I was able to pop the left lower corner clip just by pulling it out with my fingers. Once the cover was off I could see that the...

No ice from a Kenmore (Whirlpool) side by side refrigerator Eric R. • Studio City , CA • June 18, 2020
Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I learned that the Water Inlet Valve had likely gone bad and would need to be replaced. In the video the tech pointed out the small rubber tube inside the freezer that comes down from the ceiling of the refrigerator into the ice maker. This tube feeds it the water to make ice with and...

Loud noise coming from freezer. Periodic grinding like an old fan/motor. Jimmy F. • Evanston , IL • July 26, 2022
The fridge is 20+ years old in a home we recently moved into.
It sounded like a motor getting stuck on something or grinding weird... was hoping it wasn't something more serious. Found this site, clicked 'noisy' and got the replacement evaporator fan motor blade as well as the motor evaporator.
Turned out I didn't really need to replace the fan blade, but since I had it and ours was old, figured I might as well put in the new parts.
Followed the videos here, which were really helpful. The...

Unknown location of refrigerator leaking Keyliasha S. • Clinton , MD • February 07, 2016
Appliance parts pro DIY video clips extremely useful.
I recently purchased this home and like DIY projects if the repair isn't too difficult. In the end I save on costly labor fees and it's more rewarding to fix it myself.
I have an ice and washer dispenser on the outside of my refrigerator and wanted to use it. When I first looked at the home there was a sign posted next to the refrigerator "Do not turn on water valve, leak under the refrigerator". It was an "as is" property. My agent...

Whirlpool side by side. Stopped cooling- both sides could use the temp control slider to restart (sometimes had to wait or would take multiple tries) would eventually fail again Matt K. • Lancaster , NY • May 13, 2021
First I thought it was the defrost timer (talking to a friend). Replaced as $30+ dollar part and cheaper than a service call. Unfortunately, that did not help. Did some google searches and came across ApplicancePartsPros.com. They had a ton of useful information from chat availability to videos. Through the chat, we determined most likely it was the thermostat.
I ordered it with expedited shipping and it shipped the same day and arrived earlier than expected. However, the part looked...

Replaces a cracked, broken, or worn ice dispenser chute door on your refrigerator. Installs in the freezer door ice dispenser to control ice flow.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Ice dispenser chute door was not closing or sealing Robert H. • West Palm Bch , FL • July 23, 2025
The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. This melt-then-freeze would happen, to the extent the chute froze to its own closure. Despite service technician visits over a period of six years nothing they did resolved the issue. I opened the freezer door to reach into the bin from the top to extract usable...

Ice dispenser no longer dispensing ice Paul M. • Croton-On-Hudson , NY • December 21, 2020
While this should have been a relatively simple replacement of the ice bucket coupling and auger motor drive shaft, there were a couple of unexpected complications. First, the screw holding the coupling was absolutely fused into the auger. The screw head was easily stripped while trying to remove the coupling. Being that you have to somehow keep the auger from turning while trying to remove a screw with considerable force, I had to remove the auger and put it on my workbench's vise. But the...
