Washer won't drain or shows F21 error code? The drain pump assembly removes water after wash cycles. DIY repair in 15 minutes with video instructions.
I have a 12 year old Kenmore Elite washer. One day, suddenly, I heard a grinding noise and the washer abruptly stopped. I called a repair service and was told it could be the bearings in the drum of this front-load washer, or it could be the washer's drain pump, which automatically shuts down when the drain pump fails. The repairman said, if it is the drum, it wasn't worth fixing for the age of this washer. It would cost $85 for him to come out and diagnose the problem, then if I decide to fix... Read more
Flexible door bellow seal prevents water leaks between drum and door on front-load washers. Replace if torn, moldy, or leaking. Verify fit by model number.
Luckily we planned ahead when building the laundry room, as we built a water catch basin and drain under the washer, but waking up to see 1-2 inches of water is never a good sign - even if it is contained. It appears that a sleeve of a shirt was accidentally caught between the door mechanism and the bellow seal. After a few hundred revolutions in the washer, the shirt knotted up and was torn free of its pinch - in doing so, it tore a quarter sized hole in the rubber bellow seal. This was,... Read more
Fix water leaking into your washer between washes or continuous filling. This water inlet valve controls hot and cold water flow. Easy DIY repair.
I replaced the supply lines and mesh in-line filters. I made sure incoming water pressure was strong. I also cleared some debris from the internal drain filter down below. The F20 persisted. My plan was to start swapping out parts from the inlet on. I ordered the valve and got it in a day. Thanks to the schematics and videos on appliancepartspros.com, I was comfortable with the repair, and had confidence in my plan. The actual valve replacement took about 10 minutes. Bingo bango... Washer won't start or door won't latch? This door lock switch assembly detects if the door is closed. DIY-friendly repair with video guide included.
The washing machine would allow you to program it, and all the lights on the control panel would light up, but pressing start did nothing. I tried putting the washer in diagnostic mode, but was unable to do so. The machine was not showing any fault code. I originally thought it was a problem with the 'Start' button and I thought that I'd buy a replacement part from the original seller of the washer. I was told by the 'live help chat person' that the problem was likely in the washer user... Read more
Shock absorber mounts to the washer tub to dampen spin cycle vibrations. Replace if cracked, broken, or worn to restore stability and reduce noise.
We looked online at AppliancePartsPros.com under the symptoms and found it was most likely caused by the shocks. Of course there was a repair video showing how to replace all four shocks step by step, and there was a link for purchasing the four shocks at the bottom of the video. Our repair didn't go quite as quickly as on the video because we are novices, but we were able to do the repair ourselves and, once again, saved ourselves a ton of money! Now we have a very quiet washer and dryer again... Read more
Fix F20 or FH water flow errors with a new flow meter. Common cause of fill problems and suds errors. Easy 5-minute DIY repair with video guide included.
This should be plastered all over the place and every owner of a front end washer should be advised or a recall should be issued about this. As I opened the top of my washer to fix a F35 error by replacing the water level switch, which worked out great and it fixed the issue, I noticed a rusting spot at the bottom of the washer just under where the motor is placed. After running the washer with the lid open (I don't recommend doing that) I noticed that it was coming from the top of the soap... Read more
Transmits power from motor to rotate the washer tub. Replace if worn, cracked, or causing squealing. Tight fit is normal during installation. Verify fit with your model number.
I pulled the unit away from the wall and noticed black dust on the floor. Unplugged the unit, turned off the water. Removed back panel (about 10 screws with Torx heads) and noticed the belt was off, the drive pulley was loose and wobbling on the shaft, black dust all over the inside. Belt was worn along one side. Some grooves/damage in the outer drum casing around the pulley where it appeared the belt had rubbed. Removed the lower crossbar (2 more screws) to get better access to the drive... Read more

Drain hose for washing machines. Connects tub to pump to carry water during drain cycles. Replace if cracked, leaking, or damaged. Includes anti-siphon ball.
Repairing the problem was the easy part. Diagnosing the problem took a little more time. To diagnose the problem, it took longer because I first cleaned the Drain Pump trap from all the material it collected. Socks, hair pins, and other materials that were not cleaned from pants pockets. It then still did not drain. Repeated the process after finding more materials and a toy that punctured the hose between the tub and the drain pump. Running the drain and spin cycle takes about 11... Fix FH error codes or washer overfilling with a new water level pressure switch. Simple DIY repair with video guide—takes about 5-10 minutes.
Prior to ordering parts I had pulled the pump strainer basket and cleaned it out. There was both soft and hard scale build up. The tub-to-pump hose was also pretty crusty/slimey. Still got warnings for SUDS and repeated F02 errors. Ordered parts and replaced the pump, tub-to-pump hose, interior drain hose and exterior drain hose (both hoses has some slime build up). The water standing in the tub when I emptied it the first time had very little suds but we kept getting the SUDS warning. ... Read more
Suspension spring kit for front-load washers. Supports the tub assembly to maintain balance during cycles. Replace if springs are broken, stretched, or missing.
Ordered the springs and shocks. Noticed that the washer had placement for 4 springs, but the factory only installs 2 (or they forgot to install the other two on my machine). If you replace the springs, be sure to check for the spring bracket mount. You will also need those. The washer is running fine. Next I'll work on the dryer. Read more

Plastic baffle that mounts inside the washer drum to lift and tumble clothes. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing. Snaps into place on drum wall.
Searching for paddles or baffles led me to Appliance Parts. Discovered I didn't have to buy anything in order to view the video which is a pretty nice feature to see if my skills are up to it. "How in the world do I repair something without external screws?" "Take the top off the machine to see if there are any mounting screws and then just smack the baffles toward the rear of the machine with a mallet to loosen and remove?" Easy, really easy. My wife was missing an underwire to one of her bras... Read more
